Recognising other Gransnetters

Sometimes when I'm out and about I see an interesting woman of a certain age and wonder if she could be a Gransnetter. I was in London recently and kept bumping into someone who wore patterned leggings, an orange fleece and had short bright hair. She looked feisty (but all in the best possible taste). I even imagined a particular Gransnetter for that one.

Good morning petallus. You've rumbled me and obviously recognised the absolute perfection of my 10month old GS wine

Yes, I know, but those were a few comments - we don't all go round tutting at other people's children, and I don't see how Gransnetters can be stereotyped like that - we are all so very different. smile

Carol I was motivated in my comments by particular new thread 'Eating out with Grandchildren'

That's a bit wide of the mark petallus. In my experience, children are children and will get up to mischief, know when to push it and when to toe the line, and my Gransnet grandkids are typical. This morning, before we all go out for lunch, they'll let off steam at home, have a mad half hour, and will then have a little pep talk about staying on their chairs and being polite, otherwise they'll be looking around for something to get up to. I will be too busy looking at them to notice what the others are up to, unless they run off to play with other children in the ball pool, which is fine with us.

As I have noticed we have another thread on the awfulness of children's behaviour today, I am adding more criteria to my gnetter spotting:

a woman of a certain age sitting in a cafe/restaurant glaring at any unruly children who might be there and muttering about how appalled she is by other people's 'brats'. As an added indication, she will be accompanied by a number of perfectly behaved little ones grin

I had to do a bit of "googling" too Annobel. And I thought I was quite well informed about such things blush

Anagram Mon 09-Apr-12 17:21:58

Isn't the internet a wonderful thing! wink

Annobel Mon 09-Apr-12 16:45:03

Greatnan and Anagram, I have found a gap in my education, but wiki has sorted that out. blush

Annobel Mon 09-Apr-12 16:22:04

I'm on the other side, Greatnan, in Poynton. I'll pm you my phone number if you would like to meet up.

Greatnan Mon 09-Apr-12 16:21:33

Now, Annobel, don't pretend you don't know what she means! smile

Annobel Mon 09-Apr-12 16:20:18

The what, Anagram?

Greatnan Mon 09-Apr-12 16:18:37

I will be staying with my sister in Swinton, Manchester, from 15th to 20th May, before bringing her back to France with me. Anybody live around there?

Anagram Mon 09-Apr-12 15:38:19

Greenmossgiel, how could you, you`re shocking! I was talking, of course, about wearing my pretty crystal cat brooch in a prominent place, and now make something of that, you naughty girl, lol!!!

greenmossgiel Mon 09-Apr-12 13:21:26

numberplease...'crystal pussy'...? Ahem!!? confused

Anagram Mon 09-Apr-12 13:12:30

Not everyone has a car or blue tooth, though. It would have to be something all GNers could adopt.

nelliedeane Mon 09-Apr-12 12:49:35

How about a car sticker we could then 'toot' and wave..would blue tooth find us in a crowded setting, have heard this can be used by singles seeking each other outxxxx

petallus Mon 09-Apr-12 08:43:52

We could have a pre-arranged signal indicating whether we wanted the hug or the nod smile

petallus Mon 09-Apr-12 08:42:21

I like the idea of a discreet bit of jewellery, maybe a badge of some sort. I imagine a discreet nod and a wink in passing rather than big hugging and exchanging screen names. Then later if we wanted we could identify each other on Gransnet.

I quite like the mystery associated with Gransnetters not being fully known.

Annobel Sun 08-Apr-12 22:38:25

I live in Cheshire, visit family in Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Dundee.

I could be wearing my crystal pussy, as ID.

I`ll be in the Berwick-on Tweed area in the first half of August, if anyone`s going to be around there?

dizzyblonde Sun 08-Apr-12 22:20:55
