I agree with your last post, ninnynanny, apart from the reinstatement of Capital Punishment.

Yes, zero tolerance for race hate crimes. Should never be any different.

I have nothing against migrants coming here to the UK to work and raise their families, what I object to is ILLEGAL immigrants and terrorists using the Human Rights Act to stay in this country, using Legal Aid paid for by tax payers and living on our benefits.

You might not agree with me and I know Capital Punishment will not be reinstated in the UK but I think for premeditated murder it should be.

I'd keep the Granny Tax but reinstate working tax credits for people working sixteen hours a week. I'd scrap charitable status for private schools and put more money into the state system.

Generally, I'd find out what I had to do to narrow the gap between rich and poor in this country and do it.

There's room for trivial, humorous, serious and round the houses discussion on here Greatnan and when anyone posts a serious item that warrants some support, we are all in there like a shot. I come on here for some light relief, as well as discussion. I have quite a heavy time of things on some days, so I turn to this site for some much needed distraction.

Today has been a good day - lots of laughter and giggles, and time to look around and offer support, too. On other days, you may feel like posting your most welcome jokes, which I always look for, whilst others, including me, are raising their own serious issues and want to avoid the lighter threads. I took myself off for a few days' break from Gransnet when I got fed up with people who had asked for support being shot down for no good reason. It's all down to choice.

Flights of fancy about being prime minister invite a whole range of responses, both trivial and serious, and that's what we've got here. Interesting and fun, too.

But who would the next PM be if you resign?

Wouldn't it be better to change/reverse some of the present policies if you (as PM) have had a sudden rush of blood to the head?

If I were the present prime minister I would apologise to the thousands of people who I have made jobless through my policies, to the thousands now desperately trying to make ends meet after cutting their tax credits and ditch the policies made up on the back of a napkin while dining with the millionaire donors who keep my party in being to chase down their own selfish ends.
I would then resign and try to get a proper job in the real world.

Soop - I find an afternoon nap very pleasant, once I get back from my walk - it is one of the bonuses of retirement. I now record all my afternoon and early evening programmes, starting with Countdown, because I know I am quite likely to drift off to sleep.

I appreciate that not everybody feels able to join in serious discussions, but it would be nice, and polite, if they did not try to trivialise them. I don't think I have ever been accused of not having a sense of humour, but this and my expat forums are my only avenues to find out what other people are thinking of the issues of the day, and I would like to be able to exchange views without childish distractions.

Annobel Nurse saw it yesterday when she removed the clips. The swelling is due to bruising. I know what to watch out for re clots and infection. About to lie down for the mandatory two hours. Always think - what a complete waste of time - get between the sheets and drop off into refreshing ZZZZzzzzzzz

Greatnan thanks. It's just that the post hip-op is telling me a thing or two. Leg is tight-swollen and many colours of the rainbow. I know from experience that with each passing day I shall get better and betterer.
