Oldie CDs disadvantage Oldie subscribers

I don't believe it! I thought magazines usually tried to keep subscribers happy as valued customers, but the Oldie's new giveaway CD series flies straight against that concept. If I buy the current Oldie in a shop, I get a CD by Craig Brown and friends. I can put the CD in my player and just listen to the fun and games.
But as a reward for my subscribing to the magazine for nigh on 20 years, I don't get the CD delivered. Instead I have to log on to the Oldie website, then discover that the magazine lies in its teeth when it tells subscribers they can download the Craig Brown recordings. They're not there! Just the ones by Maureen Lipman.
OK, I like Maureen Lipman, but to download her CD online I have to do this TRACK BY TRACK! This means separately right-clicking on each track name and clicking the series of tick boxes my computer needs for each download. Each track takes between 2-3 minutes to download. Acquiring what those on the street have provided ready to run takes me half an hour of labour.
Why doesn't dear Ingrams just put the CD in the magazine for subscribers the same as he does for the newsstands? I really feel I'm being punished for subscribing now. Probably shan't renew next time round.

Geraldine is lying in a darkened room with an attack of the vapours. Or she may have a day off. One of those anyway...but rest assured - we will make sure that the petition is handed to her and we will see what we can do grin

Praise the Lord! The Craig Brown CD is now available to us subscribers for download. However, I would also like to have the disc cover in a printable format, so I can creat a CD for myself.

Magazine buyers get the disc itself, and I would like the facility to create the CD myself, if possible. Surely, this isn't a lot to ask?

Yes. I agree you should get the actual cd (I'm just a Gransnetter, but can see the injustice here). Many people like to be able to pop a cd on without finding downloads.

Glad you can get the actual thing though.

Strange. I just posted a comment on this thread, and it has disappeared. It wasn't naughty, or even unpleasant.

Are we subject to censorship?

wotsamashedupjingl Fri 13-Apr-12 09:43:08

I think that happens on here sometimes puffer. Think it's a tech thing.

wotsamashedupjingl Fri 13-Apr-12 09:43:50

Definitely no censorship. you should see what I get away with grin

Puffer are you sure you clicked on "publish" and not "preview" ? I have done that in the past - and the other way round, so the post is published complete with typos.

puffer Fri 13-Apr-12 11:46:34

No, actually, it was me. I jumped the gun. Maybe the page didn't update straight away, and I was looking at an earlier version.

(I have to blame Interwebby foibles and things - I have developed an aversion to websites. I firmly believe that web designers have no real grasp of layout or graphics.)

The actual CD is very versatile as a teapot stand or thingy to put your glass on or as a bookmark or shiny thing on a string in your window.
Downloads are rubbish for almost all these very necessary activities.
