I think forum etiquette is no more than normal good manners. I would not correct someone's grammar if I were speaking to them in person, and I don't correct any member's grammar, spelling or punctuation on forums.
Not easy for a pedantic former English teacher!

I can ignore personal insults (I think they say more about the poster than about me) but I think they are usually considered to be in breach of forum etiquette.

Hey what's going on? I entered this thread hoping for a bit of adrenalin-raising controversy only to find we are talking about children's books.

Only joking grin

Or am I?

soop Fri 27-Apr-12 12:51:30

imjingl Well done. I think that it is story telling at it's best. If I could choose just two books as being captivating, it would be 'The Little Grey Men' and 'Down the Bright Stream' sunshine

imjingl Thu 26-Apr-12 19:08:31

I've clicked.

(bites nails nervously. Already bought them books this week hmm)

imjingl Thu 26-Apr-12 19:05:37

You can still get it from Amazon

Wonder if it would still appeal to children these days - before I do the one-click.

yogagran Thu 26-Apr-12 18:27:57

I'm going to get it off the shelf NOW soop and re-read it. I'll start tonight when I get back from dog training classes. Good timing as I finished the book that I was reading last night

soop Thu 26-Apr-12 16:59:33

yogagran You've made my day smile My teacher, Mr Hawkins, read it chapter by chapter to the class in 1948. I was spellbound. As a very old man, the author lived in a bumblebee-like cottage called The Round House, next door to my father, in a small village in Northants. Aren't the illustrations beautiful?

yogagran Thu 26-Apr-12 13:32:21

I've still got a copy of The Little Grey Men in the bookshelf, I loved that book. Perhaps my GC will enjoy it when they're a little older too

soop Thu 26-Apr-12 12:24:38

I digress...hmm blush

Anagram Thu 26-Apr-12 12:18:11

Oh!

soop Thu 26-Apr-12 12:06:18

BB was the author of wonderful childrens stories. 'Down the Bright Stream' and 'The Little Grey Men' being two [read to me, and then to my son] and then passed on to our grandson. smile

Anagram Thu 26-Apr-12 11:42:56

Or just BB. Then it could mean whatever you happen to think of jingl at the time! grin wink

soop Thu 26-Apr-12 11:41:01

imjingle Yes! Either that or BosBoo grin

imjingl Thu 26-Apr-12 11:35:04

soop Thu 26-Apr-12 10:47:33

Bags and imjingl grin grin
imjingl I used to call my baby son 'Bossy Boots'...a name I love. Perhaps next time you change names you could come back as just that. grin

Bags Thu 26-Apr-12 10:39:53

imjingl Thu 26-Apr-12 10:36:51
