Today I've been mainly.........Vol. 5

All well this morning no discomfort after extractions yesterday nice big smile in place so all well with my world,I am staying home to-day and promise to get on with some spring cleaning and to plant some shrubs in the front as we have entered the garden competition again this year also wanting the front looking good for the Jubilee weekend as I have invited neighbours for afternoon tea we are not going down the garden party route as some of the neighbours will be away with their families that weekend so no point in getting out all the tables and chairs and brollies (sun brollies not rain brollies)

Cleaning up the house after having new windows/doors in, why is it that men 'clean up' after themselves but all I see is dust , dirt and chaos everywhere.. still I started at 7am so I might be finished by teatime...lol.. oh and hubby just rang from work to say he noticed the window installers didn't actually clean the windows so that's a job I might like to do as its such a nice day... a four letter word was uttered followed by off , he wasn't amused.
oh! and here in London we have a strange orange ball of light in the sky!! I wonder what it could be? any guesses? oh! hang while I was typing that it disappeared... there's a surprise..

Drove DD3 to her osteopath appointment this morning in a place called Farnham Common (never been there before) and while perambulating the newborn chanced upon an Age Concern Charity shop full of wonderful cast-offs. I bought her an almost new nappy/baby bag for £7 which is about £68 cheaper than the one I found in Boots last week. Feeling very virtuous and pleased with myself. Also got some lovely Baby Gap pj's for the 2 year old for next to nothing.

Been to my quilting group this morning ...learnt how to make a 'dresden plate'. Am using blues as I wish to use the design for a cushion. It is my Uncle and Aunt's 65th wedding anniversary at the end of May ...which is a blue one.

Did you know that if you apply to Buckingham Palace ...she also sends out a celebratory card/telegram for this as well as 100th birthdays???
Needless to say ...we've got that in hand for them as a surprise!!

Isn't it great when you come across bargains like that, Gally! Especially things for small children, because they're usually hardly used. Did DD get ok at the osteopath?

green/gally there are certainly some good bargains out there at the moment,last week when in town I went into a local charity shop and got mr.glamma 2 x Landsend knitted jackets and a Regatta fleece all for the grand total of £4.00 all where near enough brand new,the price on the jackets in the catalogue was £79.00 each so I am a happy bunny indeed,I have rewashed them and pressed them he will have no idea where they came from,might think he bought them himself a while ago

soop and Mr Soop have just departed after their lunchtime visit on their way home. They provided the lunch. All I did was give them somewhere to sit and eat it, and I ate some of it too. Good having friends like that . It was lovely to see them, and I was so busy blethering I forgot to give them the packet of Baggy flapjack I'd made ready! Sorry, soop! Thank you for dropping by.

I have spent most of today contorting myself into strange positions inside my new linen cupboard painting it with undercoat. It's a horrible job but the cupboard will be great when it's all done. Only 2 coats of satinwood to go…

Bags that must have been great!

I found some wool in the Red Cross charity shop this morning. Only paid a couple of pounds for 6 25gm balls. These are for my knitted patchwork blanket.

I've not noticed any posts from Greatnan over the past couple of days - is she visiting her friend this week?

Yes, soop was looking and sounding very well, which was lovely . She has already warned me that she will post her version of her day later on, so you all have that to look forward to. Meanwhile I have been given the task effecting a critique of her article about gransnet for a certain Ladylike magazine.

Bags was the hostess with the mostest. Being with her in her lovely home, was great fun. I shall be back shortly...[have something to attend to on behalf of a friend who's selling on ebay]...when I return, I shall upload a pic of Bags and soop making a toast to Gransnet pals. I shall also tell you what the delectable Mr Drummond Mansbridge said when I walked into his consultation room.

Anagram She's far too pretty as well as being far too young. In fact, Bags is just seven years older than my DS1, now that is scarey!

Now it's time.

Prior to visiting Bags I was being having my six week check up with the delectable orthopaedic surgeon - Mr Drummond Mansbrige^.

When I entered his consulting room, he mentioned [casually] that a member of his family had spotted of his name on Gransnet. I felt the colour flood my cheeks. I grovelled [shamelessly] and started to say that I was sorry if I had embarrassed him. He is such a good sport and confessed to being flattered and amused. So, for the final time, I wish him to know that I'm truly grateful to him for his expertise. The new hip has transformed my life. Pain gone. Mobility almost fully restored. Spine not as bent. Thanks is also well deserved to the super staff at Ross Hall. I have no nasty memories...only very happy ones.
