Up early for another willow weaving day. Hoping to make a little willow bark basket for my granddaughter to carry at the wedding. smile

Annobel Fri 18-May-12 11:10:37

soop flowers too.

flowerfriend Fri 18-May-12 11:18:05

I am ashamed to say that so far all I have done today is to try to cope with a hangover. Its many a year since I have suffered in this way and I hope I never do again. I wasnt drinking to drown my sorrows or partying. I DO NOT have an excuse. I am not asking for sympathy - I dont deserve any. Just thought it right to say things as they are.

JessM Fri 18-May-12 11:37:00

I suppose if we don't have the odd hangover every year or so, we forget... The last one I had was the day after my school got "Good" in ofsted, last year.
Today i have been feeling a bit better at last, cough and virus number 2 (not to mention jet lag) are finally going away, the mists in my brain are clearing - and energy starting to return. It has been a bit of a slog chairing meetings etc this week.
So I popped into school to sign a letter - I will be sad to leave at the end of term, but Chairs of Governors should not go on for ever. It was lovely to see that the library is so popular these days - quite a few playing chess (this is new - we are a deprived area so I doubt if many (any) play at home but librarian has been running a club and there are now enthusiasts) . Queue to get into library! Only 40 allowed at a time. Heartstrings tugged. This school has been one of my babies - but it does not need me any more - the results are improving year on year smile smile smile
Plumber coming to fix the boiler (I hope he will...) and then off to the midlands to look after MIL for weekend. Planning to drive the A road route, and admire the beautiful countryside, rather than belting up the crowded M1.
Hopefully a trip to walsall market and art gallery to break up tomorrow.

Butternut Fri 18-May-12 11:43:02

That all so good to hear Jess. Have a good drive and weekend.

Ariadne Fri 18-May-12 11:48:05

Glad you're feeling better, Jess! It is sad when something good comes to an end, but it will open the door to other good things to do.

Have a safe journey. x

grrrranny Fri 18-May-12 12:07:51

flowerfriend You are probably feeling a little better now as hangovers seem to ease around lunchtime unless you have one of those whoppers that don't clear for a couple of days. It's heartening to hear that someone else has been a bit silly as it is the kind of thing I do.

Butternut Fri 18-May-12 12:12:58

B - Hoping DD has a good (and not too wet and chilly) day, and that your patchwork prevents you from a little fretting. smile

jeni Fri 18-May-12 12:37:02

jess give a wave to the bell as you pass it on the great Barr Walsall rd. it used to be my local!

soop Fri 18-May-12 12:54:28

Pleased that you are 'coming out of the fog', Jess
flowerfriend...ouch! As I was explaining to Bags when we supping the wine, I'm unable to drink more than three measures of gin without suffering the consequences. The bottle of gin from GN is exceedingly strong stuff. I may only have to enhale the vapours to become inebriated wink
Annobel smile

soop Fri 18-May-12 12:57:00

Jess Safe travels...enjoy the market and art gallery sunshine

flowerfriend Fri 18-May-12 13:00:01

I have just returned from a small walk. It helped. The rain was cold. Just what I needed.

soop Fri 18-May-12 13:04:05

flowerfriend smile Now just take it easy...

glammanana Fri 18-May-12 15:42:52

I'm not faring too well to-day after the extractions I had done on Tuesday have left me in a lot of pain, all was good on Tues/wed but I have developed ulsers where the injections where put in and so not a happy bunny at all sad I'm using some gel from the chemist and hope it works soon,mr.glamma being such a sweetheart and spoiling me but I feel like a big baby and very tearful for some reason,Oh woe is me

glassortwo Fri 18-May-12 16:02:33

Ahh glamma there is nothing worse than having dental pain.. sending you a {{hug}} and one for Mr G for looking after you.

Well the day has not improved any here still damp, miserable and showery but the show must go on, the kids are champing at the bit to get going on the bike ride.....will someone please warm the quiet corner up and pour a glass for me coming back wink

Annobel Fri 18-May-12 16:03:18

Poor you, glamma. That sounds most uncomfortable.

I have been having a lovely, long, chatty pub lunch with Greatnan and her sister. GN was on very good form and her burnt chest is healing though still looks a bit raw! They are flying back on Monday I think. I will post a photograph when I work out how to get it from my phone onto my profile.

Elegran Fri 18-May-12 16:06:54

Try dabbing the ulcers with witch hazel on a bit of cottonwool, several times a day glammanana It dries them up. I always get them with mouth injections and the witch hazel works for me. Surgical spirit used to be the recommended thing, but it tastes horrid - and stings.

The tearfulness sounds very like the " 3-day baby blues" which strikes a few days after childbirth - you think you have got through it OK but the reaction takes that long to kick in. Be nice to yourself (and let Mr G be nice to you too)

nanachrissy Fri 18-May-12 16:21:47

Oh Glamma what a shame, nothing worse than a sore mouth. What about a whisky/brandy mouthwash? Would that help? wink anyway, ((hugs)) xx

Annobel that sounds like a very good lunch. smile

soop Fri 18-May-12 16:29:21

Lovely for you Annobel
Horrid for you Glamma...ulcers really are bothersome. So pleased that Mr G is pampering you. Hope that the gel does the job. (hug)

Butternut Fri 18-May-12 17:20:10

glamma - that's just plain miserable. sad.

Have you tried warm salted mouthwashes? Old-fashioned, I know, but still a faithful in our house.

artygran Fri 18-May-12 17:32:33

Today I caught my first rainbow trout on a fly. It was my first go at fly fishing and I was over the moon! I love grilled trout, but I let this one go because it put up such a fight and it seemed mean to kill it. If I want to eat fish, I'll go to Sainsbury's!

Gally Fri 18-May-12 17:58:26

I've been making the most of my last day with DD3, the 2 year old and baby Hamish before making the long trek north tomorrow - I think 3 weeks is enough for all of us! This afternoon, Nell dressed up in the ladybird outfit I brought with me - antennae, wings the lot, and turned to us and out of the blue said "I miss Grandad - where is he?" Mummy told her he was on the beach with Millie the dog (who died in October) and they were having lots of fun together - breaks my heart. Such a grown up little girl for 2 and a half; how I will miss her and the baby. Oh well, chin up Gally - lots of things to do at home and a visit to Sydney in July to prepare for..sunshine

greenmossgiel Fri 18-May-12 18:09:49

Gally, that was such an amazingly sensitive reply from your daughter to her little girl. It must have been heartbreaking indeed for you, and another hurdle that you've got over. flowers

glammanana Fri 18-May-12 18:28:57

mr.g. brought back some witch hazel thanks for that Elegran also still washing out with salted water, seems to be settling down a wee bit so pasta for tea ?? nanachrissy the Brandy is favourite but I have such a liking for it I would be tempted to swallow most but I can rinse the mouth first ofcourse grin xxxx thanks girls

Bags Fri 18-May-12 19:25:48

Ariadne Fri 18-May-12 19:27:27
