Off out, all tarted up and not looking forward to it particularly! Wish I had my slippers on. It will be fine when I get there, I'm sure, but we are planning to sneak away quietly after dinner! Good cause, as ever. Mustn't complain. (Huh!!!)

greenmossgiel Sat 19-May-12 18:18:54

Well done, glamma! That reminds me (just a little bit) of when I worked in a dry-cleaners over 40 years ago. I checked the pockets of a jacket before it went into the machine, and found a 'mucky' photo....blush I was very straight-laced in those days, even though it was the 60's. I ripped the photo into little pieces and threw it into the bin. The next day the man came in to ask if I'd found anything in the pocket of his jacket....I had to lie and say that I hadn't, but I was mortified and so was he.....(I was only 20 and had led a sheltered life!) I still fell bad about that!

I know but DD felt so sorry for him as she knows better than I do how expensive the training shoes she sold are to buy new and she said they didn't look that old or worn either but never mind I still found it funny it brightened up my week no end.

jeni Sat 19-May-12 18:02:56

Ha! Ha! I agree with annobel. Serves him right. No point in making threats if you don't carry them out.

glammanana Sat 19-May-12 17:54:54

glamma grin. Serves him right, I say! If they've done without the gear for six months, they probably don't need it. Glad your mouth is feeling more normal. Not long till you can manage that glowing smile? smile

Well I'm feeling better to-day the swelling has gone down and not to painful in fact I have been at the charity shop helping DD as she was in sole charge to-day and what a laugh I have had,a very kind lady brought in a big bag of really good quality mens clothing and sports shoes and nice clean bedding,DD and I spent a good while pricing up and displaying them and had quite a few sales from the goods then just as we where closing we had a telephone call from a gentleman asking if his mother and sister had dropped off a lot of men's stuff ???? (thought I)Yes says DD they dropped off an hour or so ago it turned out his mum and sister had told him to pick his stuff up or it was going to charity shop (they had kept it for 6 mths after he moved)he ran all the way to the shop to retrieve what was left but was distraught when we told him we had sold so much.I could not help laughing and DD said she feels guilty now for being so efficient in getting it out on the shop floor.grin

Had lunch with senior GD. Why do they think raggy denim hotpants with black leggings and Ugg boots are a good look? I suggested that she might burn the shorts but she just grinned at me! Otherwise, her top half was looking beautiful! I was going to pass on pudding but they were offering 2 for 1 and I could hardly ignore that, now could I?
This afternoon, I accidentally discovered a real treat on BBC2 - a 1990s recording of Twelfth Night with a superb cast - Imogen Stubbs, Helena Bonham Carter, Nigel Hawthorne, Mel Smith, Richard E Grant, Ben Kingsley. Very skilful casting indeed. I know I'd seen it first time round and have read and taught the play umpteen times, but I still love it. A great afternoon's entertainment.

jeni Sat 19-May-12 15:06:56

That's what I reckoned! It's my tray to myself for working so hard!

Anagram Sat 19-May-12 14:11:12

You were obviously meant to go on that particular cruise, jeni!

jeni Sat 19-May-12 13:52:27

That should read tried on line and ringing around!

jeni Sat 19-May-12 13:51:39

Well, I'm on a roll. I've just read Tuesday's files, lost weight, taken the bull by the plunge pool and booked theQE for my Xmas cruise! Managed to get the last disabled equipped cabin, so it's as we'll I committed myself.
Tried on
One and ringing round and got quite good deal!

jeni Fri 18-May-12 20:02:34

Well I've been dealing with apple all afternoon!
I now have an iPhone as well as an iPad and a MacBook pro!
So everything SHOULD talk to each other. It also means ,I think, that if any of you have Skype I can talk to you!
That's presuming you would want to?
All this new technology is doing my old head in!

greenmossgiel Fri 18-May-12 19:47:37

Glamma, you poor thing! Oh, it'll be so sore....are you able to keep the denture in ok? Salt water rinsing, with brandy to follow (in case of shock!) grin
