This is funny. Especially like the exchange with the small child. grin

OK, I've just tried it too. Not biscuity, but probably our sense of smell is better when we're young?

imjingl Wed 02-May-12 15:07:18

I have just forced my head down over the four marmalade sarnies I had for lunch my stomach, and my knees smell of bath foam. (little miss perfect emoticon]

Bizarre thread! Why would one smell one's knees anyway? I doubt if anyone else is going to! No shaving for me - body hair mostly gone and leg hair is pretty sparse. Eyebrows not so great either. sad

Anagram Wed 02-May-12 15:13:09

That's cheating. You have to smell them before they get washed! [rolleyes emoticon]

Greatnan Wed 02-May-12 15:13:35

And I thought I was the maddest member - I have a lovely vision of grandmothers all over the world sniffing their knees! {smile}

Bags I'm a member of the knee cult .... as a child I used to lick mine before I smelled them!! grin

imjingl Wed 02-May-12 15:32:07

Oh right! Durrr! grin

One smells one's knees for the same reason that one climbs mountains – because they're there! In the case of knees, right under your nose just after you've sat down in the bath but before you immerse your legs. Besides, I expect I was sharing the bath with siblings some of the time. We used to take turns sliding down the sloping end..... until someone came up and bellowed at us for soaking the floor. grin

nanachrissy Wed 02-May-12 17:00:58

I've never smelled my knees (or any one elses) but my dogs' paws always smelled biscuity!

Annobel Wed 02-May-12 17:37:05

Oh no! Not a paw sniffer, as if knees weren't bad enough!

nanachrissy Wed 02-May-12 18:37:38

grin

harrigran Wed 02-May-12 18:56:47

You are a funny lot, I have never in my life sniffed my knees. I did read an article about ageing where it said elderly people do give off a biscuit aroma hmm

Butternut Wed 02-May-12 19:03:15

From hairy armpits to smelly knees - what a thread!

I have never smelt my knees, but did suck my flannel in the bath (errrgh!)

Annobel Wed 02-May-12 19:04:45

Butter, didn't everyone do that? grin

Butternut Wed 02-May-12 19:08:18

Anno - grin - but did you do it after 3 brothers had been in the bath-water first?!

harrigran Wed 02-May-12 19:16:04

Yuck ! Butter my mind is in overdrive grin

Butternut Wed 02-May-12 19:23:52

Anno As the younger generation might say, you really don't want to know.....! grin

glassortwo Wed 02-May-12 19:32:58

butter TMI, I used to do it too urghhh.

johanna Wed 02-May-12 20:07:10

Does anyone think that hairy armpits may look sexy to men? Would it remind them of other hairy bits? O Lord I am in stitches now.....
Can't stop laughing.

Annobel Wed 02-May-12 20:12:40

You're right, Butter, I really don't want to know.

Hattie64 Wed 02-May-12 20:16:05

Well its a relief its only your knees you sniff!!! Tried on my swimming costume today as I am off to sunny climes shortly. Wondered if I might have to get rid of any hairy bits, my pubic hair used to practically reach my knees, doesn't anymore so i will leave the straggly bits not worth the effort.

johanna Wed 02-May-12 20:27:52

No, hattie.
Please make the effort. Straggly bits at our age are not the way forward, to use
an expression the youngsters use.

Plenty of defoliant ( is that the word ? ) creams available , from your local supermarket even.
Nothing wrong with looking old, but we should not look as if we have given up.

Anagram Wed 02-May-12 20:40:35

'Defoliant'! I love that, Johanna - think you mean 'exfoliant'! grin

johanna Wed 02-May-12 21:12:06

No, no, no ana, I do mean defoliant, like agent orange. That will get rid of one's forest, LOL.
An exfoliant is something completely different.smile

Anagram Wed 02-May-12 21:19:42

Oh, you mean like weedkiller? grin
