Duran Duran have been chosen to do the England bit of the Olympic concert.

Good eh? smile

No. I know you couldn't give a flying f-. Just thought I'd mention it.

Anagram Fri 04-May-12 21:58:38

johanna is only voicing what the rest of us are thinking, jingl! grin

Unless, of course, there are others out there who haven't dared to yet declared their support?

jeni Fri 04-May-12 22:00:22

I don't know any of the people you are talking about! What's wrong with Caruso?

imjingl Fri 04-May-12 22:02:28

right o.

Just thought it was an unpleasant way of expressing an opinion.

[shrug]

Anagram Fri 04-May-12 22:04:24

I see what you mean, jingl, but I'm sure johanna didn't mean it to come across that way.

imjingl Fri 04-May-12 22:05:24

no

imjingl Fri 04-May-12 22:16:53

They might be a bit ancient, a bit podgy and a bit gone to seed, like the rest of us, but that doesn't mean they're not still good musicians.

Or does it have to be only eye candy?

Anagram Fri 04-May-12 22:36:07

Of course not!

But aren't we supposed to be showing the rest of the world what's Great about Britain? I just think a more contemporary band might have given a better impression.

imjingl Fri 04-May-12 22:40:23

Actually they are still contemporary! They're on tour at the moment. They're always on tour somewhere. And put out new records.

glammanana Fri 04-May-12 22:44:43

Whats wrong with The Spice Girls ? blush

Anagram Fri 04-May-12 22:56:02

You may well blush, glamma! grin

Jacey Fri 04-May-12 23:03:17

imjingl Fri 04-May-12 23:08:00

glammanana Fri 04-May-12 23:17:04

Anagram just thought I would stir things up a wee bit I'm a bit on the bored side to-day.grinTo be honest there is not one single group/singer that I would go out of my way to see playing at the opening ceremony.

johanna Sat 05-May-12 18:31:37

Did not mean to cause offense jingle .
My Hahahaha is mirthfully , never mockingly.

crimson Sat 05-May-12 18:48:33

I know it was a long time ago but I'm sure they got booed off the stage in America years ago for being so rubbish.

Anagram Sat 05-May-12 18:51:24

Who? The Spice Girls? grin

imjingl Sat 05-May-12 18:52:19

Ok then johanna. grin

imjingl Sat 05-May-12 18:53:34

Alright crimson. No need for you to join in. hmm wink grin

Anagram Sun 06-May-12 17:09:37

Just seen a photo of Duran Duran 2012 in one of the Sunday papers, and I take back what I said, jingl! They don't look half bad! wink

imjingl Sun 06-May-12 17:12:01

Humph! [sniff]!

Who wants to lick the chocolate vanilla creme now then? hmm

Anagram Sun 06-May-12 17:17:26

I wouldn't go that far....confused

imjingl Sun 06-May-12 17:30:19

Suit yerself!

Ariadne Sun 06-May-12 21:15:03

I do know the name Duran Duran, but couldn't say what they look like or what they sang; do know Paolo Nutini as someone gave DH a CD some time ago. The rest? No.

So not really excited!

granbunny Sun 06-May-12 21:27:15

an eighties band? is it a retrospective?

crimson Sun 06-May-12 21:43:15

Actually, the more I think about it the more the idea is growing on me. I've got a feeling that they bought out a new album a couple of years back which I intended to buy but didn't, and I do listen to their 'best of' cd sometimes. Save a Prayer is one of my favourite songs of all time. If they do a compilation type set it will go down really well.
