soop Fri 08-Jun-12 10:45:41

nellie "chook"...hold your head high, shoulders back...and smile smile smile. Am sending good Kintyre vibes your way.

nanaej Fri 08-Jun-12 10:48:47

Foul weather here too. Hope everyone's day goes well.

I have to take my aunt (87) shopping and to pick up a new TV for her..her other one (2yrs old) is apparently broken beyond repair so she has a voucher for a new one!

specki4eyes Fri 08-Jun-12 23:21:54

I'm not up, I'm in bed with my laptop. Mr Spec is in guest room/sick bay. Just thought I'd update on DS's marriage melt down. I'm still listening to him sobbing 1000 miles away but we're also doing practical things like helping him prepare for solicitors meetings etc. He's shell shocked and so not terribly good at making his points. Dil is using dirtier and dirtier tactics to goad him into leaving. I'll be there soon so at least will be able to hug him. Its taking all the pleasure out of life for me at the moment - I just keep thinking of those dear little children.....sad

Anagram Fri 08-Jun-12 23:23:56

specki - feel for you! flowers

Gally Sat 09-Jun-12 07:49:15

Oh dear - all these problems sad

I have one of my own this morning. Woke up at 4 with the tooth/root still pounding away after 12 days on antibiotics; cheek is glowing like a Beletia beacon and head throbbing so I have made, at the 11th hour, the very difficult decision of cancelling my trip to Cyprus (should be checking in right now!). I have been feeling really off colour because of the abcess and know I have to have something done sooner rather than later and want to get it all done and dusted before going to Oz in July. I know I've done the right thing, but it doesn't make it any easier. DD3 on the case, trying to sort out cancellations for me. May try and get out at the weekend if I have been treated by then.

Annobel Sat 09-Jun-12 08:19:14

Oh Gally what a disappointment for you. You really needed that trip to Cyprus. Looking on the slightly brighter side - thank goodness the tooth didn't blow up on you after you'd arrived there. You will feel a lot better almost immediately once you have the abscess drained.
Good luck with the dentist, sooner rather than later, and sorting out the cancellation. Take care. ((((hugs))))

Butternut Sat 09-Jun-12 08:25:24

That's a tough call gally but the right one. Hope the dentist can sort it out pronto for you as it's beginning to sound as if you need urgent treatment ......... and then you'll be fit as a fiddle for Oz. Hope you feel very much better soon.

whenim64 Sat 09-Jun-12 08:27:56

Gally I really feel for you. How disappointing, but thank goodness you're not over there trying to get it dealt with. As soon as its drained you'll start to feel so much better, I'm sure. There might be a chance of a few days away as soon as you perk up, perhaps? Take care, lots of (((hugs)))

glammanana Sat 09-Jun-12 08:37:56

oh gally how I feel for you I have just got relief from the abcess after having the extractions on the 15th,the cause has been found to be a small part of broken root in the gum and I have to go and have it surgically removed on the 13th of next month then have the gum restitched we do go through so much pain with this I hope that you get sorted quickly and can get a few days away.flowers and a large brandy for medicinal purposes only ofcourse.

Ella46 Sat 09-Jun-12 08:44:16

Gally How disappointing for you, but as everyone has said, much better to get it sorted here.
I hope it's sorted soon and you will feel fit and well for the trip to Oz. ((hugs))

Specki flowers Heartbreaking for you.

whenim64 Sat 09-Jun-12 08:52:06

specki a few of us on here have had similar experiences with our children separating, and it's heartbreaking, especially when they have children. The only consolation I can offer is that this phase of angry nastiness does seem to eventually die down in most cases, especially when it is realised that negotiation is needed for shared parenting and financial support. flowers

glammanana Sat 09-Jun-12 09:37:25

specki (((hugs))) for you and your DS I went through this last year with DD and things do get easier with time, just make sure you keep the lines of communication open.
This morning the weather is awful gales and rain lashing against the windows and the pot plants and hanging baskets have had a hammering if it carries on I think we will have to cover them over for a day ot two.
Just getting ready to fight my way to my car and go and do my charity job for the day I'm thinking it will be a quiet day but you never know there may be some bargains about,if it looks very quiet I may organise a sale and do BOGOF offer on winter clothes it should go down well to-day don't you think ? grin

JessM Sat 09-Jun-12 09:42:18

Oh so sorry to hear that Gally. I don't suppose you are anywhere near a dental hospital are you? They can be helpful sometimes.

glassortwo Sat 09-Jun-12 11:34:23

gally I think you have made the right decision, my DH had the same thing a few years ago and it niggled on and on. He was driving on the M62 and as he traveled the pain intensified, I had to take over he was in a terrible state. Took him to A&E in the area and the Dr said he had heard of an abscess erupting during a flight but never in these circumstances, so you didn't need it happening on the plane.

soop Sat 09-Jun-12 11:52:32

Gally Such a last minute disappointment for you. I'm so sorry. Get that tooth well sorted and you'll be free to carry on enjoying tour travels flowers

specki My heartfelt condolences. Our family is dealing with similar upheavels. It is a terribly sad time. We're trying our best to offer long-distance support to all those we love. You're in my thoughts.

specki4eyes Sat 09-Jun-12 21:30:55

Thanks everyone for kind words and thoughts. This morning my DH took some unwanted stuff round to a neighbour who is doing a car boot tomorrow. They were talking in her drive and suddenly she bent down and picked up a four leafed clover, handed it to him and said 'give this to specki' smile
I do so feel surrounded by care but wish I could get out of my head the picture of my little GS who is 5 soon and who dotes on his Daddy and does not yet know that he will soon no longer be with him every day.

Gally you did the right thing - imagine being in a hot foreign country with that pain going on all the time. Get yourself fully recovered for your Oz trip.

glassortwo Sat 09-Jun-12 21:36:54

specki keep that 4 leaf clover close to you, sending you a {{{hug}}}

harrigran Sun 10-Jun-12 00:39:41

Oh Gally what a shame, get well soon flowers
DH has had the same thing twice lately, he lost one tooth and it was a relief to get rid of the pain.

Ariadne Sun 10-Jun-12 04:30:39

Good morning! just catching up after a hectic week.

Gally You did the right thing; your trip to Oz is so important. And that pain is so awful, isn't it? Soon be better!

specki we need a four leaved clover emoticon for you, but hang on in there.

jeni Sun 10-Jun-12 08:09:41

Back in blights. Waiting to disembark!
gally hope your mouth is better.
Catch up with you all later.

Libradi Sun 10-Jun-12 08:41:21

whenim64 Sun 10-Jun-12 08:43:17

Welcome back Jeni. Hope youve had a great trip. X

AlieOxon Sun 10-Jun-12 08:44:07

Morning everyone.
I've now got my head above water after the exhausting day in Oxford on Thursday. (Dealing with stuff for my daughter who is still in pain from her back.)

Gally I do hope your tooth is dealt with soon...sympathy.
Jeni glad you're back!

I find my self with some energy this morning - what shall I do with it?
........aaaaah, all the things that got left over the last few days..........
