Yes ogm my lounge used to smell like Lils bar at times, and then the frying pan had to come out,and they had to be fed before going for a hair of the dog,bu they where always polite, and still see some of them and they still call me 'mum',and yes I do miss those days..
Good morning all! It used to be light at 5.00 a.m...Today we have been married for 47 years, and they said it wouldn't last (well, my MiL did - with hope in her voice.) I was 19, we already had DD (some of you will remember that story) and hardly any money.
But here we are. Three children, three lovely in laws, six grandchildren too. I am happy today, and thankful, and counting my blessings.
Good morning to you Ariadne - and congratulations on 47 years. That is quite an achievement. I hope you are doing something nice to celebrate. Just getting light here - our local rooks and jackdaws all get up together at dawn and head NW in a joint flock, cawing and chacking. Thy have just gone past. I've booked myself an incredibly busy day, starting with a haircut at 9am. There is an hour in the middle to do about 6 phone calls (well some of them) and my last ever governors meeting at 6.30.
I feel a bit lost, as my car is at the garage for major repairs - good job I enjoy walking and there are so many lovely walks straight from the door. There is no public transport anywhere near.
Ariadne Congratulations ( and well done you!) Packing today, plus making sure everything is left 'neat and tidy', have left myself what seems like a million last-minute jobs! Multi-tasking at the mo' eating and netting!
1965 was a good year for weddings Ariadne - ours was on 10 July so like you we are in our 48th year of wedded bliss. Many congratulations! I suspect there will be fewer of these long-service marriages in years to come as the young either marry later than we did or don't stick it out. (Can't decide if they are right or wrong to do so).
I am keeping my fingers crossed for you re the house move - I do hope there are no last minute hitches and you have a trouble-free removal. We are 8 weeks in to our new home and it is starting to feel like home now. I am glad I trusted my instincts and went for this one - it has proved to be every bit as convenient and comfortable as I had thought it might be. Hope you find the same.
gaga exchanging today! I hope....nice to hear you're all settled in. The sellers in Devon, or maybe their solicitors are being a bit slow, but that's not a problem - it isn't a chain as such. Am doing a preliminary de frost of the freezer now. Many UFOs disposed of!
20th September! Theoretically complete on new house 24th. Stuff is going into storage while we have work done on the new house (stuff I simply cannot live with - sure you all understand that!) but some will go down there so we can "camp" in the new house. But DD is 5 minutes away so no problems.
Cannot believe it, but we are so happy. And what a round of parties and dinners we have coming up here - another thing I can't quite believe.
