Good Morning all! sunshine

Anagram Tue 28-Aug-12 17:26:34

I'm so pleased for you, Ariadne - and for your OH! I know it's been a stressful time but it all went ahead smoothly in the end smile

Ariadne Tue 28-Aug-12 17:19:42

20th September! Theoretically complete on new house 24th. Stuff is going into storage while we have work done on the new house (stuff I simply cannot live with - sure you all understand that!) but some will go down there so we can "camp" in the new house. But DD is 5 minutes away so no problems.

Cannot believe it, but we are so happy. And what a round of parties and dinners we have coming up here - another thing I can't quite believe. wine

When do you move?

Greatnan Tue 28-Aug-12 15:48:16

Phew, Ariadne, it is always such a relief to exchange (I once had six in a day - phones redhot and all my staff working flat out).

Ariadne Tue 28-Aug-12 15:40:29

Exchanged! One more step along the road...

Grannylin Tue 28-Aug-12 14:53:19

Best wishes and congratulations to you Ariadne wine

Ariadne You are in my thoughts. flowers

Ariadne Tue 28-Aug-12 11:00:15

Oh, thank you, everyone!

gaga exchanging today! I hope....nice to hear you're all settled in. The sellers in Devon, or maybe their solicitors are being a bit slow, but that's not a problem - it isn't a chain as such. Am doing a preliminary de frost of the freezer now. Many UFOs disposed of!

Greatnan Tue 28-Aug-12 10:08:25

OGM - I hope you don't get crumbs on your keyboard!

Gagagran Tue 28-Aug-12 09:54:55

1965 was a good year for weddings Ariadne - ours was on 10 July so like you we are in our 48th year of wedded bliss. Many congratulations! I suspect there will be fewer of these long-service marriages in years to come as the young either marry later than we did or don't stick it out. (Can't decide if they are right or wrong to do so).

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you re the house move - I do hope there are no last minute hitches and you have a trouble-free removal. We are 8 weeks in to our new home and it is starting to feel like home now. I am glad I trusted my instincts and went for this one - it has proved to be every bit as convenient and comfortable as I had thought it might be. Hope you find the same.flowerswine

Congratulations Ariadne and also to Mr A. I hope the rest of the week goes well and the move gets well under way. flowers

Ariadne Congratulations ( and well done you!)
Packing today, plus making sure everything is left 'neat and tidy', have left myself what seems like a million last-minute jobs!
Multi-tasking at the mo' eating and netting!

Ariadne Congratulations on your 47th Wedding Anniversary. I hope you have a special day! flowers wine wine

I feel a bit lost, as my car is at the garage for major repairs - good job I enjoy walking and there are so many lovely walks straight from the door. There is no public transport anywhere near.

jeni Tue 28-Aug-12 08:36:40

Well doneflowers

Have a lovely day Ariadne - congratulations - do you think it WILL last? flowers

Good day/bad day, Jess! Hope they give you a good send off. smile

I have a 'bitty' day today which I hate as I never seem to achieve anything! sad

Greatnan Tue 28-Aug-12 07:28:01

Congratulations, Ariadne - have a lovely day.

JessM Tue 28-Aug-12 06:05:01

Good morning to you Ariadne - and congratulations on 47 years. That is quite an achievement. I hope you are doing something nice to celebrate. Just getting light here - our local rooks and jackdaws all get up together at dawn and head NW in a joint flock, cawing and chacking. Thy have just gone past.
I've booked myself an incredibly busy day, starting with a haircut at 9am. There is an hour in the middle to do about 6 phone calls (well some of them) and my last ever governors meeting at 6.30.

Ariadne Tue 28-Aug-12 05:09:44

Good morning all! It used to be light at 5.00 a.m...Today we have been married for 47 years, and they said it wouldn't last (well, my MiL did - with hope in her voice.) I was 19, we already had DD (some of you will remember that story) and hardly any money.

But here we are. Three children, three lovely in laws, six grandchildren too. I am happy today, and thankful, and counting my blessings.

Yes ogm my lounge used to smell like Lils bar at times, and then the frying pan had to come out,and they had to be fed before going for a hair of the dog,bu they where always polite, and still see some of them and they still call me 'mum',and yes I do miss those days..

soop Fri 24-Aug-12 18:28:02

OGM Of course you do...grin

Oldgreymare Fri 24-Aug-12 17:50:14

Fantastic nellie... were yours like mine 'when in drink'?
Lots of bumps and shushing into the wee small hours then silence.
Sunday morning the lounge sofas and floor littered with large slugs, the lads had come prepared and had brought their sleeping bags!
My lad must have had squatters rights as he would be sleeping like a babe on the largest sofa.
The smell was as if they had brought home the contents of a brewery which I suppose they had.
That was then and this is now, and yes, strangely, I DO miss them. sad

Bags Fri 24-Aug-12 10:59:07

Hey! that's what I was going to say, soop! I'll say it anyway: Brilliant, nellie grin
