jeni Thu 28-Jun-12 07:46:05

Morning folks!

Gagagran Wed 27-Jun-12 08:56:16

Morning all. Up at 5.30am today - excitement building as our big move to the south coast is now 2 days away! The removers are coming to load the van tomorrow and I am really worried that it will be big enough for all our clobber and even more worried that all our clobber will fit in the new (bit smaller) place! DD says it's the remover's responsibility as he came to survey it before giving us a price but it's our clobber and I want to make sure it all comes!

Also concerned about the fiasco at NatWest/RBS and just hope no-one in the chain is affected. Our funds have landed in the solicitor's client account so fingers crossed completion goes ahead on Friday - otherwise we will be camping out at DD's!

Back to wiping out the kitchen cupboards and emptying the fridge now.DH lined up for smelly jobs - he likes those best, honestly. grin

Ariadne - hope there is some good news for you with a purchaser for your house about to make a super offer. Keep positive.smile

jeni Wed 27-Jun-12 08:32:17

Mamie I'm with you on sport!

AlieOxon Wed 27-Jun-12 08:22:54

Woke at 6.30 with cramp in my leg.

Mamie I hate sport too with some rare exceptions. (I did watch some Ascot!)
But the way football crowds out everything else really annoys me.

- belated Happy Birthday, when!

Going to Oxford today to help out my daughter who is still very incapacitated by her back injury (a month ago now) and grumpily waiting for a hopefully close date for her MRI scan.
(I haven't yet told her that mine is at the end of July.....for me this is good, because I see that the doctors are not in a hurry for my breast results.)

We seem to be locked in a circle of doctors appointments and results and GP visits! - difficult to keep other things going................

JessM Wed 27-Jun-12 08:17:24

I think the enthusiasts should have their own enthusing threads and moaning about them is fair game elsewhere. So no grumbling on the olympics thread(s) OK? grin
Wondering if I can fit in some red button Euro athletics, but unlikely given the other stuff I have to do. DS1 and family arriving at dawn on saturday - I have work to do, meetings to attend and .... 4 year old proofing the house!!! grin
Bracing myself for DH to want to watch highlights of the Tour de France every evening! At least you get to see different bits of France - hilly, mountainous, coastal etc - but the cyclists all look the same to me. But it does go on a bit.

nanaej Wed 27-Jun-12 08:14:21

The only good thing about Wimbledon fortnight for me, when I lived there, was having our own very localised weather forecast..otherwise it was all just a nuisance!

Mamie Wed 27-Jun-12 07:51:17

Am I allowed a Wimbledon angry on here? I won't spoil the smile thread. Just seen reports of Wimbledon, Wimbledon weather and Wimbledon coverage (blanket?) on the BBC. I hate sport!!! It is bad enough that football, racing, tennis is all over the television, but does it have to be in every news programme as well?
It is not often I say thank goodness for French television, but even a worthy documentary on Arte is better than this...

nanaej Wed 27-Jun-12 06:40:12

Morning all! DH off to inspect a school in Essex or somewhere that necessitated a 5:30 departure so I have been awake since 5:00 today! Grrr!

Greatnan Tue 26-Jun-12 09:38:27

Annobel - do you find your calls from NZ to be astonishingly loud and clear?
Both my daughter and I get free calls via our internet package and it really helps to keep us close.

Butternut Tue 26-Jun-12 09:09:38

Always good to be woken-up with a happy reason, gn and anno.

Annobel Tue 26-Jun-12 08:59:51

My sister woke me from a doze with a phone call from NZ. Good thing she did, or I might still be snoozing and forgetting that I've a hair appointment in an hour's time!

Greatnan Tue 26-Jun-12 08:51:03

Good morning, Butter. My daughter rang me from NZ several hours ago - she forgot the time difference. It was lovely to hear from her anyway - her husband has just received a large, unexpected tax rebate, which will help cosiderably in the costs for four of them travelling to England for her son's wedding in August.

Butternut Tue 26-Jun-12 06:15:45

Phoenix - Hope you have a happier day today. smile

Thank you, all you lovely ladies/wimmin smile. Just popped home to walk the dog and have some respite before I'm off out again to be with my other daughter and twin grandsons. I'll stay as when - can't see why I should get any older now I've reached an age I'm comfortable with! grin
