glassortwo Fri 08-Jun-12 09:35:52

Go on green you could come home as a super hero grin

soop Fri 08-Jun-12 09:29:08

Good morning all. Although the sky and sea are inky grey, there is a glimmer of watery sunshine. An orderly queue of five newly-fledged blue tits perch "quiveringly" on a branch of willow...watching and waiting for parents to fly like whirling dervishes to and from the bird feeders. The sight made me giggle grin And then, I spied a sparrow hawk! Banged on the window to alert the wee ones of danger lurking in the forest beyond.

Annobel Fri 08-Jun-12 09:12:44

I dare you, green.....!

greenmossgiel Fri 08-Jun-12 09:05:06

The delphiniums are down - even though I staked them well sad. Trees are being buffeted and I just hope the baby blue-tits don't decide to leave their nest today. However, tomorrow may be better - hope so, as it's the Open Day at my old place of work, and the staff have worked so hard to prepare for it. The funds that are raised will give the people who live there added facilities and equipment. (Leonard Cheshire Disability). My granddaughter also works there, and she's in charge of the 'Face Painting'....I would have mine done, but I have to go back home on the bus - grin

Garden looking battered and it ain't over yet.

GoldenGran Fri 08-Jun-12 08:49:45

Oldgreymare Fri 08-Jun-12 08:04:29

What a night.... and still it's raining!
Ariadne me too!
Gally... I'm programmed that way too! Lucky you, heading for some sunshine! Hope the tooth/root is perking up.

PRINTMISS Fri 08-Jun-12 08:00:46

Good morning everyone, we have a howling gale here, really awful black sky, and our lovely friends of nearly 60 years who have spent the last seven days with us are off home, so I am a little sad. However, we have had a lovely time and laughed a lot, and have made plans to meet up again later this year. Four lucky people. We will go to look at the sea later on, love the white horses, but it's power frightens me.

Ariadne Fri 08-Jun-12 06:56:09

Morning all! It feels like February here, and I feel like hibernating.

Hope you're feeling a bit better, Gally.

Butternut Fri 08-Jun-12 06:28:10

Off on a wild flower walk this morning with a friend of a friend who knows a great deal about all the plants. Am taking my camera and notebook. All the beautiful verges are beginning to be cut now, sad, so it's a race against the commune.

Butternut Thu 07-Jun-12 12:13:30

gally - Really hope your toothache feels much better soon and that you can take off on your hols. feeling well and fit. sunshine

glassortwo Thu 07-Jun-12 11:42:33

gally the dust will just settle while your away, and it makes it so much easier to see when there is a build up grin

Bags Thu 07-Jun-12 11:32:53

I'm trying to imagine what kind of pressure I would have to feel to spring clean a house before I went on holiday....

.... too elusive

... wanders off to do something else

Gally Thu 07-Jun-12 11:28:02

Always do a top to bottom clean up at the last minute - quite ridiculous I know, but I only work under pressure; I think it's in case I don't return for some reason so I don't want to be caught lacking in the housework/clean knickers department!! I think it also exhausts me so I can sleep on the flight grin

harrigran Thu 07-Jun-12 09:56:24

Hope you soon feel better Gally flowers

JessM Thu 07-Jun-12 09:30:21

Spring clean the house.... hmm is this in case the housework inspectors call while you are away?

Gally Thu 07-Jun-12 09:04:16

Thank you ladies!! I think I must have got to sleep after 4 and now feel as if my eyes (not to mention tooth) have been rubbed with soap. Good idea to have a kip this afternoon. Off to Cyprus on saturday loaded with extra supply of AntiBs. Back after 10 days for a couple of weeks and then to Oz. Life is never dull - I am a last minute person and have yet to sort out clothes and spring clean the house!! grin

GoldenGran Thu 07-Jun-12 08:47:43

How painful, I hope the anti biotics work,*Gally*I agree with Jess you don't want to lose it unless absolutely necessary. these things always happen at the most inconvenient times. flowers

Annobel Thu 07-Jun-12 08:43:48

I empathise, Gally. I hope it clears up with the antibiotics. When are you off? brew

glassortwo Thu 07-Jun-12 07:50:01

Gally I hope you have managed to get some sleep and the AB will kick in and hopefully give you a little relief from the pain. flowers

Oldgreymare Thu 07-Jun-12 07:44:01

Gally empathy, perhaps a power nap this afternoon?

Ella46 Thu 07-Jun-12 07:43:16

Gally hope it's feeling a bit better by now,and you got some sleep? There's nothing worse than toothache (well there is, but you know what I mean) in the night. ((hugs))

JessM Thu 07-Jun-12 07:37:45

Oh poor you Gally. A dentist in my family always used to say - hang onto the tooth if you can. (I think the caveat there is - unless it is a slightly wobbly one that has been undermined by gum disease like some of mine were, in which case better rid of em)
How many days before you go away?

Libradi Thu 07-Jun-12 06:52:42

Morning Gally hope you managed to get some sleep last night, sounds painful sad flowers

Gally Thu 07-Jun-12 02:29:35

I'm up - haven't got to sleep yet which is unusual for me. I have a problem with a root (not in the garden - in my mouth) which has developed an abscess so I am on a load of antibiotics; emergency dentist today said he could take a tooth out but it might not do the trick so I declined his kind offer and said I'd hang on to it for a bit longer and go with the AntiBs. Why does something like this always happen just when I'm about to go away - huh, typical. I'm hungry too, so at 2 am have just scoffed a hard boiled egg and a glass of milk - yuk. Now what else can I find in the fridge.......
