Hope you get better fast, ga. Try to rest.

grannyactivist Mon 05-Nov-12 13:19:41

Pyelonephritis jeni. Iam susceptible to kidney infections (CKD), but this time only left kidney seems to be infected. Very painful at moment and just begun to have symptoms of cystitis too - ouch. I can go from being well to hospital treatment very quickly, but GP is wonderful and has already called and I've just taken first antibiotic - so if it'scorrect antibiotic, I sould start feeling better in 48 hours or so. Head feels woolly and t confused. Sleep now. moon

glassortwo Mon 05-Nov-12 13:25:06

ga hope you get better soon, ready to be fabulous Mother of the Groom on Saturday. flowers

DD2 is also getting married on Saturday and is so organised I feel quite redundant. This is just as well as DH and I have both got a tummy bug - which will have gone by the weekend.

Well, I think I'm either first up or last to bed having stayed up to listen to The Melbourne Cup on Australian Radio. This is the day that I become an honorary Australian and shall spend the morning at work saying g'day to everyone and annoying them. I annoy them most days but am particularly irritating on the first Tuesday in November. Prince Charles and Camilla are guests of the winning owner; last time Prince Charles was his guest he won the race and that was a long time ago. Bet they're having a right royal celebration now wink.

baubles Tue 06-Nov-12 05:39:52

ga & kitty hope you both make a speedy recovery in good time enjoy your family weddings.

G'day crimson have fun with it grin

Greatnan Tue 06-Nov-12 07:20:17

Good luck to all with family weddings to enjoy and best wishes to anybody who is not feeling well.

It is snowing heavily here - the forest opposite my flat is beginning to look very pretty, but I have to go out this evening to get the local nurse to give me my flu jab. It is a strange method here - normally you have to get a prescription from your doctor for the vaccine, get it from the pharmacy, and then ring a nurse (or go back to your doctor) to have the injection. This year, because I had it done last year and I am over 70, they sent me the prescription in the post. The chances of my catching any kind of disease at home are very low, as I don't mingle with anybody, but I will be flying to Manchester for Christmas, and planes are just about the best breeding grounds for every kind of germ!
The nurse is in the next village, but the road will be kept open so I will keep my appointment. Meanwhile, the vaccine is in the fridge.

Good morning, I can picture the scene from you window greatnan, we are set for a day of heavy rain by the forecast so the DGC will get soaked to and from school sad

Very pleased for you, baubles
To those who are celebrating special events...my very best wishes. flowers

Marelli Sat 10-Nov-12 13:08:03

Have a great day, baubles! Notso - how on earth did you get all that done at that time of the morning? It must be the Scottish air that's given you all that energy! grin

Notsogrand Sat 10-Nov-12 17:21:46

Not the Scottish air Marelli....a new Scottish phone confused I finally swapped my old perfectly well functioning 'stupid' mobile phone for a bells and whistles 'smart' mobile phone.
The only thing is, I don't know how to switch the bells and whistles off and the damn thing keeps buzzing and hooting on and off during the day and night.
I bought it at the Carphone Warehouse in Edinburgh (Princes Street?) so maybe the charming young man who sold it to me thought I could do with a bit of a shake up. Enough already!

annodomini Sat 10-Nov-12 17:27:47

Notso, best ask someone younger to sort it for you. My DS had a look at mine to see why it needed recharging so often - turned out that I had a lot of thing I didn't need using the battery all the time!

Ella46 Sat 10-Nov-12 17:37:16

Notso If you go into 'settings' I'm sure you'll be able to turn things off.

Marelli Sat 10-Nov-12 17:45:13

My smartphone whistles, too! Go to 'settings', Notso, then 'sound', then 'silent mode'. If you click on that, you'll have silence whenever you want it -well, from the phone, anyway! grin!
