Have you ever been mistaken for someone famous?

We've probably had one of these threads before but I couldn't find it.

Seeing susiecb's latest post made me think about how much I would have loved to look like Twiggy when, in reality, I have only been mistaken for Sandie Shaw smile or Cilla Black confused when I was MUCH younger and MUCH MUCH thinner.

More recently, I have been likened to Brenda Blethin which is quite flattering but not in the Twiggy catergory, either as she was then or now! sad

Not mistaken for, but told I resemble Jacqueline du Pre, Ingrid Bergman, Anneka Rice and Jodie Foster.

I was a Shirley Temple small child, then Elizabeth Taylor as an older child (I have bright dark blue eyes and had lots of dark wavy hair), this faded away of course and now is Caroline Quentin!

Paul McCartney's sister! Don't even know if he had one, but my looks have a sort of family resemblance to him, and one photo in particular made me look very similar to a young Paul - you know, roundish face, big brown eyes, Beatle cut.... Anyway, Terry used to tell people I was PMs sister and they believed him.

Funnily enough, Mum and her parents, including a mystery biological father, came from Liverpool.............

She of the widows peak hairstyle, she was a fantastic singer though.
Thank you Green, but you are naturally too kind!

Over the years several people passed comment that I looked like Diana Rigg although I couldn't seen the resemblemence.

DH is always getting mistaken for somebody else usually a villian, his most famous case of mistaken identity involved being held by Border Guards on the German/Dutch Border in the 70s apparently because he looked like a member of the Bader Meinhof terrorist gang. It took him several hours to prove he wasn't grin. Most recently we were in Berwick apon Tweed when a woman rushed up to him and asked him for his autograph as she thought he was a famous Irish fiddle player ??? We all had a good laugh about that as DH hasn't got a musical bone in his body.

In the sixties I was mistaken for the French singer, Mireille Mathieu. I wonder what happened to her?

I remember that film, number! And having met you, I think she'd be very proud to look like you now! smile

Back around 1954 (ish) my auntie took me to see the film Mandy, starring a little girl called Mandy Miller, and people in the cinema thought that I was her, looking back at photos of myself then, I must say there was a strong resemblance. Wonder what she looks like now? Better than me, probably!

In the dim mists of time ...others, including Americans ...seemed to think I resembled Jackie Kennedy! I never understood ...especially as my hair colour was completely different confused

Ella46 Sat 02-Jun-12 16:30:11

When I was very young and plump "Elsie Tanner" and Kathy Kirby! Then later it was Rula Lenska, mainly because we both had thick, slightly curly auburn hair, in the same style. Mine is now going white blonde highlights, but funnily, hers is still the same! confused

Years ago quite a few people commented I reminded them of Wendy Craig in Butterflies.

My sister recently met juragran and told me she could see why she was compared to Julie Christie! Good job I am not the jealous type!
The only person I was ever compared to was Lauren Bacall - didn't see it myself.

gracesmum Sat 02-Jun-12 13:17:57

Well, where do I begin - Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Sophia Loren, Nora Batty grin
Nearly seriously, on a weekend in Dublin about 15 years ago Mary MacAleese had election posters up on all the lamp posts and one of the DDs siad she thought they were pictures of me!

nanaej Sat 02-Jun-12 12:59:32

Hmm..Pauline Collins and so has my aunt! So must be a likeness somewhere!

absentgrana Sat 02-Jun-12 12:06:28

And more recently, Sigourney Weaver.

absentgrana Sat 02-Jun-12 12:06:06

Lyn Redgrave although I could never see the resemblance.

granjura Sat 02-Jun-12 12:04:08

They used to call me Julie in my hey day (for Julie Christie) - and in my early 50s my Italian teacher said I looked like Joan Baez.
That was a long time ago, lol.
