Hurrah for the Jubilee celebrations. What a wonderful day. We are very good at coping with( or ignoring )the rain. Well done Her Majesty. Still more to come. On Tuesday we will be at Layer Marney Tower in Essex welcoming her majesty, Queen Elizabeth 1st., with faeries ,tumblers, a Tudor picnic, juggling and Tudor games,Musicians and dancing. Come rain or shine!

I agree, we Brits know how to enjoy a good parade.

I hope you have all been celebrating locally as well as watching TV. What have you all been doing? We went to a 1950s party on Saturday where we won the quiz because DH seems to remember every TV advertisement from those days! Yesterday we all crowded into a small room for our 'street party' because it was persisting down with rain but we all made the best of it.

Today we have a picnic in the park and then the lighting of a bonfire on the Worcestershire Beacon. I'm trying to persuade DH to climb up to watch but not getting very far!

Would love to hear what you have all been doing.

As I put on another thread Hunt ...if I'd still been living in London I would have gone along ...whatever the weather. crown flag
I just agreed with an observation of the quality of the BBC presenters ...which I gather has been picked up by the press today hmm

Lets hope the weather holds for tonight's event flag

Thanks for that PRINTMISS, I thought I'd strayed into a different topic! Didn't anyone else just 'enjoy'?

PRINTMISS Mon 04-Jun-12 08:02:34

Do you know, I just enjoyed the sheer pageantry of it all, as has been said before, Britain must be the only country able to put on such a show, come rain, shine, or whatever, and the people really just love (I think) to prove that they are British and will cheer louder than anyone else to prove it. I am sure someone is going to disagree with that, but I like to the happy things, there is so much sad news everywhere these days.

Diana didn`t come onto the scene until 1980, they were married in 1981, and Wills was born in 1982. The Silver Jubilee was 1977.

Night night jeni.

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:55:43

That's that sorted then. hmm grin

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:54:13

Are you looking at the right picture jeni? grin

The one I'm looking at has got Charles, Edward, Andrew, Queenie, Uncle Wotsit, Duke of Ed, Foggy Phillips and Anne.

Ok?! grin

Anagram Sun 03-Jun-12 22:53:25

Crossed post!

Anagram Sun 03-Jun-12 22:52:48

It was 1977, jeni!

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 22:52:36

You could be right! I remember being in France at the time of the wedding with my children on holiday!
The silver jubilee was the year before I moved to the SW!

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 22:48:18

??????????????

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:47:53

Mark Phillips is standing next to Anne. It was before Diana's time. The young boy is Edward.

merlotgran Sun 03-Jun-12 22:42:31

It's a very young Prince Edward.

nanaej Sun 03-Jun-12 22:41:50

is it Wills or Peter Phillips??

Jacey Sun 03-Jun-12 22:41:28

No Jeni Wils isn't on it ...on the left are the Queen's three sons ... Charles (in uniform) Edward and then Andrew

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 22:37:48

No! Wills is on it!
I'm not sorry as I didn't like her! (sorry)
But m surprised she was brushed out!
I think on the original, she was standing behind Wills!

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:33:44

Yes! I thought she is starting to look like the Queen Mum.

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:33:07

I don't think she would have minded that picture. It's got her beloved uncle on it. She wouldn't worry about Foggy Phillips.

Did you see that lego picture from Hamleys window! (further down) Really good.

Thanks for the link jacey.

Anagram Sun 03-Jun-12 22:32:59

I was quite struck by how the Queen is beginning to resemble her mother. I agree that it was sad they didn't show a photo including her.

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:27:45

Looking at the pictures of the stamp collection on jacey's link makes me think how much the queen has improved over the years! grin She seems much more stylish now. And more relaxed.

merlotgran Sun 03-Jun-12 22:25:38

I thought that too, Jacey Pity they couldn't have found one which included the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

nanaej Sun 03-Jun-12 22:25:02

HMQ looked decidedly peeved when she saw it. It was on the side of Sea Container House. Perhaps because it had Mark Phillips on it??? would have been better to have had a coronation pic up!

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:24:18

merlotgran grin
