Hurrah for the Jubilee celebrations. What a wonderful day. We are very good at coping with( or ignoring )the rain. Well done Her Majesty. Still more to come. On Tuesday we will be at Layer Marney Tower in Essex welcoming her majesty, Queen Elizabeth 1st., with faeries ,tumblers, a Tudor picnic, juggling and Tudor games,Musicians and dancing. Come rain or shine!

Was it my imagination , or was Diana airbrushed out of that large black and white photo of of the silver jubilee?

gracesmum Sun 03-Jun-12 21:19:51

That's Photo-shop for you!

Anagram Sun 03-Jun-12 21:21:43

Surely not? If that's true, it will cause a great hue and cry in the tabloids!

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 21:28:53

I couldn't see her. But it was only on for a very short time?

gangy5 Sun 03-Jun-12 21:33:38

I thought the commentating on the river pageant was very poor - there wasn't much detail on what certain boats were and who were in them!? I can't believe that I would beable to stand for 3 hours, as the Queen did, when I reach her age. She has served this country exceedingly well and deserves all the praise we are able to give.

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 21:39:54

I watched the sky version as I was not impressed the bbc. That is unusual!

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 21:40:55

We didn't actually see the 'arms' (can't remember the proper word) of the bridge go right up for the Queen's boat because they were off talking to somebody.

I think the BBC coverage left a bit to be desired.

Jacey Sun 03-Jun-12 21:51:00

Yes I agree ...I thought the BBC coverage was not up to their usual standard.

I,too, wondered about that huge picture from the Queen's earlier Jubilee ...I looked for and didn't see Diana either.

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 21:51:46

I saw it on sky! It's something like bascules according to google!

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 21:52:46

jacey so it's not just me!

merlotgran Sun 03-Jun-12 22:05:24

It was pouring with rain, the Queen was sailing up the Thames in a huge gilded barge while tens of thousands of dripping wet people waved Union Jacks and cheered their heads off. Only in Britain......Eat your heart out, rest of the World.

Jacey Sun 03-Jun-12 22:14:18

Ok jeni ...have found the image ...think it was from Queen's silver jubilee
... pre Diana??

You'll have to scroll through several images until you find it smile

merlotgran Sun 03-Jun-12 22:16:44

Definitely pre Diana. Lord Mountbatten is on it.

Jacey Sun 03-Jun-12 22:19:53

I did wonder how Anne felt about the chosen image? ( her ex being there!)

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:24:18

merlotgran grin

nanaej Sun 03-Jun-12 22:25:02

HMQ looked decidedly peeved when she saw it. It was on the side of Sea Container House. Perhaps because it had Mark Phillips on it??? would have been better to have had a coronation pic up!

merlotgran Sun 03-Jun-12 22:25:38

I thought that too, Jacey Pity they couldn't have found one which included the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret.

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:27:45

Looking at the pictures of the stamp collection on jacey's link makes me think how much the queen has improved over the years! grin She seems much more stylish now. And more relaxed.

Anagram Sun 03-Jun-12 22:32:59

I was quite struck by how the Queen is beginning to resemble her mother. I agree that it was sad they didn't show a photo including her.

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:33:07

I don't think she would have minded that picture. It's got her beloved uncle on it. She wouldn't worry about Foggy Phillips.

Did you see that lego picture from Hamleys window! (further down) Really good.

Thanks for the link jacey.

j04 Sun 03-Jun-12 22:33:44

Yes! I thought she is starting to look like the Queen Mum.

jeni Sun 03-Jun-12 22:37:48

No! Wills is on it!
I'm not sorry as I didn't like her! (sorry)
But m surprised she was brushed out!
I think on the original, she was standing behind Wills!

Jacey Sun 03-Jun-12 22:41:28

No Jeni Wils isn't on it ...on the left are the Queen's three sons ... Charles (in uniform) Edward and then Andrew

nanaej Sun 03-Jun-12 22:41:50

is it Wills or Peter Phillips??
