Am I the only one who feels disappointed when you open up someones profile to find you cant see what they look like .... or am I just nosy grin

Anagram Thu 07-Jun-12 11:30:08

And am I the only one whose mental picture of the member doesn't match up at all with their actual photo? grin

absentgrana Thu 07-Jun-12 11:31:09

I don't very often look at people's profiles and when I do, it's usually because there is something visual that has been mentioned on a thread – jeni's cruise wardrobe or bags's wonderful craft pieces, for example. I scrapped my own profile because a) I sounded even more boring than I actually am and b) I have systematically destroyed almost all photographs of me and won't let people take new ones. I feel that it's only a part profile if it doesn't contain photographs. So that was really a rather long-winded way of agreeing with you glass.

GoldenGran Thu 07-Jun-12 11:38:28

no Glass you are right, and I am disappointed if I can't see what someone looks like too.So I must make an effort to do my own, it was part of my New Year resolution this year! I think it is vanity on my part, I don't photograph well and am always waiting for that perfect shot- and it will never come, so I pledge here I will get on with it in the next few weeks. smile

I remember last year when one of us urged the others to turn their profiles blue and put some photos on and we had quite a few chats about why Gransnetters didn't really want to put their photos on, or some like me had just not got round to it. I sometimes look at profiles after reading posts that make me curious about where the poster is coming from e.g. they have certain interests and when I look, their personal and professional life has correlated with their interest in the subject.

I always look when someone mentions they have a new grandchild or they have a dog, in case there's a picture there. Can't resist! smile

I did put on a photo of my garden when bikergran suggested we did, ages ago. Have also added pets, but I hate showing or seeing pictures of myself, so would never post one! I also feel slightly uneasy about adding children's images on any site.

Annobel Thu 07-Jun-12 12:36:29

And your lovely garden is well worth showing to us, shysal as are your elegant cats. smile

j04 Thu 07-Jun-12 12:40:08

glass, I wouldn't want members of my family, or neighbours, to know I was on here. A photo would 'out' you.

I think a lot of people would feel the same.

j04 Thu 07-Jun-12 12:42:13

Anyway, I still 'talk' to the Bags I first envisaged. Even though I now know she doesn't look anything like that. It's all 'virtual'.

j04 Thu 07-Jun-12 12:43:35

And my DD would never allow me to put pictures of my grandsons up. Which is sad cos they are gorgeous.

soop Thu 07-Jun-12 12:47:51

I am, who I am. Being "out" doesn't concern me in the least. smile

Libradi Thu 07-Jun-12 12:54:11

I like being able to see who I'm chatting to and it's nice to have a bit of background. I've just done something to my profile though sad tried changing the number of grandchildren as I have 2 not 3 and now I think I've somehow gone and lost the lot unless gremlins are at work sad I can still see my photographs though.

Gally Thu 07-Jun-12 12:57:29

Doesn't bother me who sees my profile - I think everything is fairly safe! BTW I am going to put some photos of my Jubilee Tea /mostly champagne Party which was a great success on monday - thanking all my lovely friends for being so good to me since J died. Don't look yet, it'll probably take me for ever to work out how to do it grin

glassortwo Thu 07-Jun-12 13:05:20

jingle I dont mean anyone to put anything on they feel uneasy about, everyone to their own.

I was just commenting on how nosy I am grin.

glassortwo Thu 07-Jun-12 13:08:16

Really am just hiding here avoiding starting GD bedroom, just deciding if having already done GS room if another on would just send me over the top wink

JessM Thu 07-Jun-12 13:17:17

eventually located a photo of me that I thought tolerable and recently added it.

Butternut Thu 07-Jun-12 13:29:33

Great pic. Jess. Nice to see you.

I always imagined you with dark hair - probably the Welsh thing!

glassortwo Thu 07-Jun-12 13:29:52

jess what a lovely photo.

Gally Thu 07-Jun-12 13:32:17

Jess that's a lovely photie of you.

Annobel Thu 07-Jun-12 13:33:28

More than tolerable, Jess!

soop Thu 07-Jun-12 13:39:12

A super sunny smile, Jess sunshine

soop Thu 07-Jun-12 13:53:40

A super sunny smile, Jess sunshine

Bags Thu 07-Jun-12 13:54:00

Don't know what you were worried about, jess. Lovely pic! smile

jings, what does The Bags You Envisaged look like? Just curious grin.I know she'll be a dragon. I'd do a swap (tell you what my mental pic of you is like) except I don't really have one. I did like that grumpy but pretty woman whose pic you put up on a thread once, all lace collars and proper, but a right rat bag when crossed wink grin

soop Thu 07-Jun-12 13:54:17

oops! confused hmm
