Granjura and I are having a lovely holiday. We have found good coral right off the beach but have also signed up for four boat trips to see even better coral!
We are also having four massages each. I have found this internet cafe but we are late for dinner tonight, so I will be logging in again soon.
I hope everyone is well and happy - we certainly are.

Welcome back greatnan & granjura your trip sounds fantastic.

Greatnan Sun 17-Jun-12 17:49:36

Thanks, everyone. I came home from jura's house by the longer, scenic route, keeping off the motorway until nearly at Geneva. It was wonderful - deep blue lakes, the river Sainte, picturesque villages and flower-filled meadows, all in bright sunshine. I am usually very anxious to get home when I have been away but that area of Switerland is so beautiful I just couldn't resist it. Egypt is so featureless and drab, if it were not for the coral I would never go there, but I now have lovely visions of the underwater scene to keep me going until my next trip.
Jura is a very useful travelling companion, not just for her lively company but because she is fluent in so many languages. I just left her to it while I smiled a lot!

23C envy

granjura Sun 17-Jun-12 14:23:15

Thanks - it was wonderful, but very happy to be back to greenery and a riot of colour in the garden. Almost as much colour here as with the fish and coral - and lovely temperature, about 23C. I love to go away, but coming home is always bliss.

Annobel Sun 17-Jun-12 11:38:36

Same goes for Granjura of course. smile

Good to have you back - missed your contributions to 'healthy debate'. You are lucky not to be coming back to our so-called summer in England. I think I last saw the sun in Scotland a fortnight ago. sunshine huh!

Ella46 Sun 17-Jun-12 10:23:23

Welcome back Greatnan it's been very quiet without you! wink

Bags Sun 17-Jun-12 08:15:57

Yes, welcome back from me too! Been thinking over the last couple of days that it was about time you were back. Glad you had a great holiday. Here's a welcome (nearly) home brew for you and jura brew brew

Ariadne Sun 17-Jun-12 04:45:31

Welcome back, Greatnan! Missed you.

Greatnan Sun 17-Jun-12 00:30:40

Back home - well, I am in Switzerland with juragran at the moment, but I will be home in France tomorrow, with lost of catching up to do.
We had a great holiday and it was very reasonably priced too - I love a bargain. I am very brown, in spite of my eccentric habit of snorkeling wearing a tee shirt and long trousers - it is easy to get badly burned when you are 'planking' in the water!
Now to plan my next trip - perhaps to Fiji on my way home from NZ in March.
The political problems in Cairo had no effect on us, although some of the staff at the hotel were worried about their families. We were very sorry for them - they have to get any jobs they can and there is nothing for them in Cairo.

Greatnan Sun 10-Jun-12 19:51:26

It is O.K. Flickety - juragran and I both live in the Alps, so we get plenty of cold weather!
Still 42C here but the coral today was outstanding - every shade from pink to depp purple, blues, greens gold, yellow, white, and thousands of fish of every type and hue. Bliss!

glammanana Sun 10-Jun-12 12:06:15

Not at all FlickertyB it would be a very sad world if we all liked the same kind of holiday having never scuba dived and viewed the beautiful corals of the area though I would like to do it myself sometime,I would also like to visit Iceland as I have friends that live there and they are surrounded by some of the most magnificent secenary in the world. The next visit on my list is Russia but I do not know if I will ever manage it now sad

FlicketyB Sun 10-Jun-12 11:52:16

I am the only person who really would hate the holiday Greatnan is enjoying so much. My last holiday was in Iceland.

The irony is that when looking down the list of active conversations this morning, I came to this one and noticed that it is followed directly by one on the winter fuel allowance.

glammanana Fri 08-Jun-12 22:01:14

Enjoy your holiday I am not the least bit envy just sitting in the kitchen listening to the gales blowing outside and the rain hitting on the window's so I am not in the least bit envious grin

excrementy here too sad Glad you are having a good time!

Annobel Fri 08-Jun-12 19:04:52

Absolutely foul weather here - don't know about the Alps though. They've been having mixed conditions in Paris for the tennis - very windy today.

MrsJamJam Fri 08-Jun-12 18:57:17

We have November weather here in Devon, so I am envying you the sunshine and warmth! Just about to light the fire in the sitting room as it is so miserable, and my lovely garden is being bashed to bits by the wind. Summer - what summer?

Enjoy your snorkelling!
