Just on another thread about things to have on hand if leaving home in an emergency, hopefully it would never be the case, but what would be in your bag/box of treasures.....also what gadget or appliance would be the hardest to live without....hard one isn't it...

Family photograph albums...all of them...would therefore need a van! wink

marmalade

Jacey Tue 12-Jun-12 11:14:47

The last one is easy ...my laptop!! grin

But on a more serious note ...leaving in an emergency ...things?? {am assuming we're taking children and pets as a given} ...then again probably laptop as it would hold all those picture memories etc. and it holds all important numbers eg bank details, accounts information and telephone numbers, e-mail addresses. My handbag would contain the list you've already given on the other thread.

Fortunately, I had a few days in which to plan my escape ...so was prepared ...but if I'd had only hours it would have been very difficult sad

nelliedeane I wish I'd had access to the advice you've given on that other thread flowers Keep spreading the wordsunshine

jacey every credit to you for having the courage to leave,my daughter got beaten on the point of leaving.....BUT this is nellies soapbox and a subject that needs to be spoken about and info made available, have done voluntary work with families that are in crisis and helped to support them.smile too late for my daughter sadly but any helped after that is a bonusxxxxxx

Come to think of it, I would need to load up my prescription medicines but especially the steroids I'm taking at present. However, my prescriptions are on line so hence the laptop which also contains family photos.

soop Tue 12-Jun-12 13:17:41

Bags has just reminded me that I'd need a second van for medication...and a little big suitcase for G & T's wink

glassortwo Tue 12-Jun-12 13:34:56

My handbag and my Laptop, the rest is in storage!

absentgrana Tue 12-Jun-12 14:04:30

Mr absent and the last remaining bottles of the vintage Fonseca

…and the cats, of course

…and maybe the kitchen calendar

…and the beautiful necklace I inherited from my mother.

In reality, I should probably run out with odd shoes and an empty bag.

harrigran Tue 12-Jun-12 14:39:37

My bank papers, prescription drugs and laptop so I can slag him off on facebook grin

Humbertbear Tue 12-Jun-12 14:49:59

My iPad, a reproduction of a painting that I have had since I was 12 and my two teddy bears. You can't cuddle an iPad. I was always the person who insisted on picking up my laptop and handbag when the fire alarm went off in the office.

nelliedeane Tue 12-Jun-12 14:55:44

my glasses,I don't fear nudity if in case of fire but If I am going to be rescued,I want to see my hunky fireman rescuer.....grin

Family photos, videos and DVDs, plus my laptop with many more photos on it not transferred to DVD yet. No amount of insurance would ever replace them.

soop Tue 12-Jun-12 17:05:36

nellie You're priceless! grin

JessM Tue 12-Jun-12 17:53:17

Glasses, laptop, something warm.
When in NZ I do worry about earthquakes - specifically, what happened if there was one in the night and my glasses had fallen on the floor and I couldn't find them and I had to evacuate the house without them into a very blurry world. And be stuck in that blurry world for who knows how long. Solutions to this difficult problem are very welcome.
I worry about that far more than the much worse things that could happen were there an earthquake.

Ariadne Tue 12-Jun-12 17:55:50

Medication, credit cards, iPad. And DH!

glammanana Tue 12-Jun-12 18:07:34

nelliedeane Tue 12-Jun-12 18:10:28

jess yes that is me without my glasses,I fear I could get arrested through groping about in a shadowy world grin

JessM Tue 12-Jun-12 18:18:25

visions of us both nellie groping firemen by mistake.

I once had to evacuate a tall hotel at 2am. Boots and coat were a great idea. Some people were out on the pavement in just jammies.
ANother time there was a fire alarm at a big office block. It was freezing. Cos it was lunchtime and I had neither my coat nor my car keys on my person. Everyone running round like headless chickens with no fire marshals in evidence. it was a minor fire in the kitchen and we were outside in winter temps for half an hour. Miserable.

Anagram Tue 12-Jun-12 18:19:31

nellie wouldn't be groping firemen by mistake, Jess! grin

nelliedeane Tue 12-Jun-12 18:24:23
