Oh I am pleased soop is on her way. I would have gone over to Carlisle and took her part the way down if we could have set up a shuttle service.

Good! At least they're having to pay something back out of their huge profits!
(Although compensation is probably already factored into the fare prices...)

green, they had booked seats on the train which means,in effect, that the train company (probably Virgin) have undertaken to get you to your destination. If they have to use other forms of transport or put you up in a hotel for the night, they pay. Happened to us a couple of times missing connection to Inverness because of delays from Oxford to Edinburgh. Taxi driver from Inverness to Lochinver said he did it quite often because of missed connections!

B stay in touch with us re. soop's travelling drama. It is a bugger, isn't it!

Once my (disabled) son had booked a train from Derby to Crewe which didn't run. He was then catching another train to somewhere else (??) so the train company booked him a taxi to Crewe to enable him to make his connection. Maybe that is the case with soop. Hope so!

I'm keeping the vibes going, fingers crossed and a few prayers thrown in, I can do no more than that,she has to see her GS.

Perhaps the taxi driver will do the trip for a reduced fee - and hopefully soop will get a refund on part of her train ticket (?)

Glad she`s found a solution, but that taxi must be costing a small king`s ransom! Hope the rest of her journey goes smoothly.

I have everything crossed for soop to get there safely and have a wonderful time with the wee man.

I'd heard that both the East coast and the West coast lines were blocked by landslides etc after the awful weather. soop has my sympathy, it must be sooooooooooo disappointing for her

If anyone can make it happen, it is soop. After all she is Supergran! I'm still sending all good vibes just in case. [fingers crossed emoticon]

Oh, how frustrating! If there's no chance of the train moving, I do hope they arrange alternative transport for people (especially soop!)
