Agreed!

Anagram Sun 01-Jul-12 21:12:57

Mamma Mia doesn't do it for me, but Muriel's Wedding or My Big Fat Greek Wedding always cheer me up!

jeni Sun 01-Jul-12 21:20:38

For me it's the music.
I can dance in my chair without fear of falling over!
It must burn some calories, I hope?

Notsogrand Sun 01-Jul-12 21:23:38

jeni and Ella...have you see the stage show? Absolutely brilliant!
Today I have been mainly playing the ukelele. The uke band I belong to had 2 gigs today. The morning one was at an Armed Forces Day, then in the afternoon we played at a Food and Drink Festival. Great fun. smile

I knew you would appear notso at the mention of Mama Mia, sounds like you had a great day smile if we have another Christmas singalong you could play the intro smile

I saw Mama Mia on stage a few years ago and absolutely loves it!
Dancing, as I did in the aisle that evening, has always set me free. smile

Today I went into Manchester to help GD and her housemates to move to a newly renovated house for their final year at Uni. How do they manage to accumulate so much clobber? I was the driver and they did the lifting. I lost count of the trips we made between houses and I might have to go back tomorrow. The landlord has made a good job of the renovation and they should be comfortable. In fact, the builders were still there sorting out a few loose ends!
Now for U3A creative writing group - I had to write my story sitting up in bed with the laptop this morning.

I am stuck in the computer room waiting for the plumber to go as I am not dressed - DH and plumber yak yak yak.

Yes Radio 4 was ghastly weather is ghastly but news from a friend is better her husband was injured in the eye when walking the dog last week by a large thorn which has resulted in the loss of his eye but more seriously a very bad infection which the consultant thought had entered his brain anyway they finally hope that they are winning the fight as there was signs of improvement yesterday. My friend is terminally ill with breast cancer - some people seem to get it all don't they? But and here's my lesson for the day she fights all the way and refuses to give in even though it is in her bones she recently took pain killers and helped a mutual friend to move house - goes to the theatre and art classes with me travels as much as she can - in short lives life as if there is no tomorrow!!

I've just come in after pulling up all the weeds in the pathway, where do they come from I only did it on Saturday I think someone must be planting them !!! and the slug invasion is awful this year I use pellets and they don't seem to work and when I opened the morning paper to-day there was a full page on the way to get rid of slugs so my moaning must have been heard by someone.Washing on the line and hoping the rain stays off for the day,I am now off to Liverpool to buy DDs birthday present she is 42 on Thursday ? where do the years go girls.

GoldenGran Tue 03-Jul-12 12:30:36

It is scary .*glamma*, my oldest D will be 45 this year and I really can't believe it. Today I am going through my clothes to see what to wear tomorrow. my best friend's daughter rang first thing this morning to offer me a ticket to Glyndebourne tomorrow, she is going with her mother and her own daughter, who is 14 and is my Goddaughter,so I am excited but realise they will be all dressed up. IWill probably wear what I got married in 5 years ago, I'm glad to say it is a little looser than it was then!

Annobel Tue 03-Jul-12 12:42:52

GG envy
This morning, after a routine visit to the doctor, I went to Manchester again to complete my GD's move from one house to another. I am going to get a sign for my car that says 'Granny's Removals'! Then to Dunelm for new shower curtain plus several odds and ends that I had no intention of buying - but they might 'come in useful'. Back home, to watch tennis and there is none! sad

GoldenGran Tue 03-Jul-12 12:47:57

Yes*Annobel*, the tennis situation is dire, I'm not sure if they are going to have any days uninterrupted play this week.sad

OMG!!! 5 intense days since I picked up DS and his family from Heathrow at 5am on Saturday. Lovely to have them all here. Kids amazing as always and DGS has done more developmental leaps since Easter - recognises numbers etc and amazing balancing and climbing (he's 4). DGD talkative as ever. Having a chat with someone I know, she's talking about odd things people eat. "I saw a programme where they were eating things like... turkeys testicles" she announced. (she's 7. Sounds like the sort of thing I would say!)
They have just departed to see friends and DIL's family. Back for a couple of days before they fly out. House trashed, DH away until tomorrow, I've let them take the car.
Time to adjust and get my head back into work. Or tidy up maybe...

JessM Thu 05-Jul-12 12:45:41

And then they realised after 20 mins driving that they'd forgotten all their money, and came back again. And went again. Extra kisses.

glassortwo Thu 05-Jul-12 12:53:52

jess smile it was worth them having to turn around to get more kisses and cuddles.

JessM Thu 05-Jul-12 12:57:24

yup! that's for sure glass.

Butternut Thu 05-Jul-12 13:04:23

Aah Jess - smile.
DGD does seem to have your quirky take on things. grin

Anagram Thu 05-Jul-12 13:12:00

I always wondered what was in those Turkey Twizzlers! grin
