Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Great minds, Greatnan.

whenim64 Sun 15-Jul-12 22:11:33

Sounds like a happy time you had with your grandaughter, Annobel. I have been enjoying my son and grandson's company this afternoon, and then I went to son's house to meet his girlfriend's parents and have dinner, cooked by son. Really had a lovely time, sharing stories and getting to know them. smile

Annobel Sun 15-Jul-12 22:35:53

It sounds as if everything is coming together for your son which must be such a relief for you, when after all you and he have been through with his ex. smile

Yes, Annobel every week sees a bit more progress and now my grandson is able to check out any misinformation he hears, he's becoming more secure and certain that his dad will always be there. Today, he asked for my iPad and tracked the distance on Google Earth from his house to his dad's, my house, and my daughter's and was thrilled to see that he had relatives within walking distance of his school and home. Great to see him like this, especially when he walks casually into my house and knows his favourite drink will be in the fridge, I will have made him his favourite Sunday lunch, and the dog will be running round his legs with excitement. Happy days smile

Things seem to be coming along nicely, when, I am so glad for you.

jeni Mon 16-Jul-12 07:38:03

Morning all. Early start today, but early finish as well.
Pouring with rainsad again!

Notsogrand Mon 16-Jul-12 07:48:20

Morning to you jeni. Hope the weather's a bit better by the time you get back.
My 4 year old grandson finishes pre-school at lunch time on Mondays and for the past couple of years I'v been picking him up and bringing him back here for the afternoon. His Mum and older brother arrive at 6pm after Karate, and DD takes the boys home after their dinner. Today is his last Monday at pre-school, big school in September, so this afternoon is my last 'special Monday' just spending time with him on his own. I've been very lucky. smile

eGJ Mon 16-Jul-12 07:56:14

Enjoy your last 'special Monday' notso; I'm just off to the pool and it's not raining here for once! smile

glassortwo Mon 16-Jul-12 10:37:26

notso enjoy your special last Monday. smile But dont worry as I am sure your time with the boys will be rearranged, your DD will make sure that you dont miss your time with the boys.

I have my DGS1 at home with me today, he has asthma and had an severe attack while we were away in Cornwall and is not well enough to go to school much to his annoyance as its a fun week at school. I have had lots of cuddles and time with him today. At the moment he has gone to find something else for us to play but he must have found something to interest him as I can hear him talking away to himself upstairs. grin

I was lucky enough to meet jeni on the way to Cornwall and we had coffee and a good chat, I have uploaded two photos of us, she is lovely. Thanks jeni for taking the time to come and have coffee with me, I hope at some point we can do it again.

The sun did manage to shine in Cornwall until Thursday and then the rain arrived, but it didnt stop us doing everything we had planned. All the photos are on the I pad as the battery failed on the camera and DD had not packed the charger, now I just need to try and download them.

I get plenty of 'me' time normally - it's just been a bit manic lately!
Nearly finished the ironing, daughter's bedroom is ready - now to get cracking on the cleaning. Won't take me too long - then I'll flop in the sunshine for a bit.
Will take the scenic route to Basel tomorrow, via the Jura and France- then back via Mway late int he evening.

Today I actually managed to successfully skype my son in England to wish my gd a happy 2nd birthday. I was very happy smile

AlieOxon Mon 16-Jul-12 20:23:31

Hi there, all. I've had a rest day today after pushing to do the gardening yesterday - I have to do this as I am going to Oxford tomorrow (again) to take my daughter to physio, and myself to an appt about diet advice.
I think I have it worked out anyway, but will go and see that they say. I had to do it myself as they have taken two months for this appt.....

I haven't got anywhere with the Skype, I think I will wait for a free few days and try again but with a webcam.....

My sister coming end of the week to take me out for a birthday lunch!

harrigran Mon 16-Jul-12 23:00:30

Ahhhh! How sweet. I'd love to meet you too. Come and visit this lovely sunny country! grin

Greatnan Tue 17-Jul-12 08:28:32

Thank you, jeni - I am spending 16 days in England next month, but most of the time I will be in Manchester and Yorkshire, with just two days in Kent for my grandson's wedding. I am very excited because my daughter, son-in-law, and two gc will be coming over from New Zealand.
If only I had time to whizz down the M6/M5......

glassortwo Tue 17-Jul-12 08:32:08

Annobel Tue 17-Jul-12 08:41:16

Rub salt in, Greatnan. Another wet morning here in Cheshire. sunshine I wish.

Greatnan Tue 17-Jul-12 08:52:25

I hope it continues, Annobel - I can't guarantee it!

Ella46 Tue 17-Jul-12 08:59:09

Even the slugs are fed up in Cheshire!

Annobel Tue 17-Jul-12 09:05:20

If it wasn't raining so much I'd be out with the torch and salt cellar every night!

Ariadne Tue 17-Jul-12 09:06:19

Today I have woken up to sunshine, and feel happy again. I so hope that the current buyer stays on track.

Washing nearly ready to hang out- there's a great after all the rain. Just call me Pollyanna. NO! Don't!

Greatnan Tue 17-Jul-12 09:17:14

Nothing wrong with looking on the bright side, Ariadne. If it doesn't come off, you have lost nothing and you gain a cheerful feeling for as long as it lasts! Good luck with the house sale - it really is such a stressful process.
