Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Walked the hounds at 7ish returned home to find DH up and about. I wish sometimes he would stop in bed I like my early mornings to myself now and then. It's raining so I am watching Heir Hunters, catching up on the weeks ironing and a spot of gransnetting at the same time. smile

Am supposed to be packing and getting ready for holiday. We are taking DD2 and the 2 GC to the New Forest tomorrow, to stay in a place called Sandy Balls (?).It's a campsite, but are staying in a Wooden lodge. I can' t get enthusiastic about the packing as it is all Wellies and rain gear. Maybe that will make the sun shine. sunshine

Horse manure picking again, lol- what fun- before the storm.

ariadne Oh God our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come?

Bags Thu 19-Jul-12 11:40:56

Good news, ariadne!

Been out scything and making a pile of hay and getting bitten by midges. Now that I've come inside a breeze has got up to blow them away. Hmph. jura, we'd make a good team with our wheelbarrows! smile

Now eating cherries, chocolate biscuits and coffee. Aaaah!

Ella46 Thu 19-Jul-12 11:42:42

Just relaxing with a coffee before getting glad rags on to go to lunch.
Had a strange night, not sleeping well at the moment, but felt quite jittery and when I got up I had palpitations. Still feel a bit dithery.

jeni Thu 19-Jul-12 11:46:59

Why are we picking up horse manure?
Do you
1 dry it burn for heating and cooking
2 use to plug holes in the wall
3 hammer it down, let it dry and polish for flooring
4 use as a poultice to aid hair regrowth on husbands head
5 save to throw at visiting politicians
6 put on garden?

Nonu Thu 19-Jul-12 11:47:42

Very apt , Jeni

Ariadne Thu 19-Jul-12 11:49:34

jeni No, it's a primary school hymn. I had a new Y7 class once, and when we were writing about memories they mentioned this, then spontaneously sang it to me! "One more step along the road I go.." can't remember any more, but I bet someone can!

Bags Thu 19-Jul-12 11:51:38

All I can remember is that it's a very jolly, happy clappy song, but beyond the first line I can only la la la.

Hello there - morning (just!)
Been to the GP to have blood taken, no hassle, and the library. Now home and struggling again with an email problem - can't get in as my password isn't recognised......I put it on the Tech section, if anyone can help!

Trying to organise disabled assistance with BA. Most unhelpful for Maniacs booking , mine was ok! Due apparently to the data protection act! What a nonsense. I've had to go to the travel agents who then have to go to Cunard who then have to go to BA.
However, I've renewed my insurance! Free with my bank account. Apparently I'm insured until I'm 80 and even insured for hang gliding!

(I'm trying to imagine me hang gliding! I'm terrified of heights! Won't even look at my feet if I'm standing up and have my specs on!)

ariadne

My DD used to come home from school singing it and then a friend had it at her wedding.

One more step along the world I go,
one more step along the world I go;
from the old things to the new
keep me traveling along with you:

And it's from the old I travel to the new;
keep me traveling along with you.

Round the corner of the world I turn,
more and more about the world I learn;
all the new things that I see
you'll be looking at along with me:

As I travel through the bad and good,
keep me traveling the way I should;
where I see no way to go
you'll be telling me the way, I know:

Give me courage when the world is rough,
keep me loving though the world is tough;
leap and sing in all I do,
keep me traveling along with you:

You are older than the world can be,
you are younger than the life in me;
ever old and ever new,
keep me traveling along with you:

glassortwo Thu 19-Jul-12 13:12:13

jeni so hang gliding is not one of your usual weekend hobbies grin

jeni Thu 19-Jul-12 13:14:32

No! Along with lion taming! (I'm allergic to cats. They make me sneeze and wheeze!)

I`ve been trying this morning to get a doctor`s appointment. The doctor I specifically asked for, earliest appointment available, August 22nd. So I said any doctor then, earliest appointment August 13th! Good job what I`ve got aint life threateing!

Oldgreymare Thu 19-Jul-12 17:05:31

Numberplease what a good idea, I'll 'Google ' them for info. Band room is easy walking distance.
Something seems to have happened to Doctors' appointments.... all ages away, are they hoping symptoms will clear up meantime? If you are prepared to take a chance, there is a 'sit and wait' clinic at our local small hospital, that helps those of us who want something 'sorted quickly before going on holiday'! blush

Ariadne Thu 19-Jul-12 17:18:22

Alie
Thank you! It was one of those special little memories, and watching that nearly brought a tear.

And thank you so much for the words, glass

Oh, I do love hymns. And, Bags a bit of a clap sometimes.

granjura Thu 19-Jul-12 17:39:10

LOL jeni - all done now. About 10 barrow fulls. Too strong to put on garden, but I use it for regular layers in my 8 compost heaps. A great accelerator and enricher - I am the local compost Queen smile

numberplease Thu 19-Jul-12 17:54:17

OGM, it is possible to turn up at our doctors at 8.30am and sit and wait on the off chance of someone missing their appointment, but with little grandson in tow, it`s not really an option for me.
I hope you get to see and hear Black Dyke in some way or another, they`re fantastic.

Annobel Thu 19-Jul-12 18:19:03

We can ring up and get a triage doctor to ring us back. If we need an appointment we get one at the end of morning surgery and otherwise the doctor will leave a prescription at reception if it's needed or send a doctor to see us if we're really ill. We can almost always get an appointment with the nurse practitioner who is good for earache, sore throats and so on.

Libradi Thu 19-Jul-12 18:58:34

Not been around for a while because I've been so busy doing DH's bookwork, looking after the grandchildren etc. I can see I've got a lot of catching up to do!

yogagran Thu 19-Jul-12 22:37:43

Anyone know where jingle has gone? And dizzyblonde hasn't been around for ages too.
