Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Another one who has disappeared is grannyactivist I tried pm-ing her and her name is still recognised but no reply.

Anagram Thu 19-Jul-12 22:53:15

I noticed she hadn't been around for ages too, Annobel. At the back of my mind I've got a feeling she was off somewhere, but I could be wrong.
I'm sure jingl will be back when she feels like it!

jeni Thu 19-Jul-12 22:59:09

She reminds me of that character in cats!

jeni Thu 19-Jul-12 23:03:20

The one on the night train. Also mcafferty?

Went to see my my grandson today as it is his birthday, he is all grown up 11 today and its his last day at his present school, its high school for him in September.
When I saw him he gave me a huge cuddle and then he broke down in tears , you see his other nan (nanna) died just over two months ago, not only was she my son's mother-in-law she was my best friend.
My grandson is finding it so hard with out her, as so am I . We clung to each other for a while but it breaks my heart to see him in such pain.
We all missed her today of that I am sure, it wasn,t the same with out her, she was the sort of woman who could light the room up when she walked into it. sad

Black Dog has been visiting me - I couldn't sleep so I played some tapes very softly (not that I have any neighbours - it just seemed right).

Gally Fri 20-Jul-12 05:53:20

greatnan flowers
I am trying to keep awake - got to fetch the gc's from school in 10 minutes and all I want to do is nod off! I have finally taken to sleeping tabs to try and get me back on track; never had jetlag so badly before - must be my agehmm

jeni Fri 20-Jul-12 09:22:09

I know it's Friday and I'm up!angry this is my day off! I want to sleep in but the man is coming to service the burglar alarm ( sometime between 9 and 12!)
Then the hairdresser comes, then the cleaner lastly Gardner at about 6pm!
Also DD her OH and of course DGD! Are coming to stay. As this is the first time she's visited since she's learnt to walk, everything has got to be moved out of reach!
I really was not keen on the idea of being a gran! Now I remember why!
What is wrong with me? I love her to bitsconfused

Ella46 Fri 20-Jul-12 09:29:23

I think Grannyactivist said she had a family staying with her as well as lots of other things going on.

jeni it's all go when they're with you but worth it smile

Bags Fri 20-Jul-12 09:30:43

ga has two weddings of offspring this summer. She'll be back when she has recovered, I expect. smile

jeni Fri 20-Jul-12 09:39:55

I know! But the trouble is I've 5 days of files to read for next week as I'm fully booked and I don't know when I'll have time to read them?
My fault for booking myself so heavily but I didn't know they were coming! (and I'm just a girl who can't say no when Cardiff ask me to do an extra dayconfused)
I shall have to abandon GN for the weekend I suspect!

Ella46 Fri 20-Jul-12 09:43:36

jeni are you living to work, or working to live? grin

jeni Fri 20-Jul-12 09:59:00

Neither! I'm working to keep sane and cruise! Or are the two Incompatable?

Ella46 Fri 20-Jul-12 10:01:29

I think sanity can be overrated!

Ariadne Fri 20-Jul-12 10:14:32

There was a post fromga quite recently; I'd been wondering where she was.

Ariadne Fri 20-Jul-12 10:16:28

Sitting here while the buyer's surveyor inspects the place. I do not like this at all..feeling pessimistic that another problem will arise. Can't think what, but...sad

Butternut Fri 20-Jul-12 10:35:28

Nasty bite has got worse overnight, and have just returned from the Pharmacy with medical alcohol, antihistamines, sterile dressings and tape! No one knew what had bitten me to cause such a reaction, but apparently it's not a spider bite - they have a three pronged attack system! Leg now taped up and feeling cool.

Ariadne - I've always found the surveyor part of selling a house an anxious time. Good luck! smile

jeni Fri 20-Jul-12 11:14:53

Ella couldn't agree more!

glassortwo Fri 20-Jul-12 11:28:19

I am having 5 minutes and a coffee before I go off to collect DGD from her last day at nursery then home for lunch then back to school for leavers assembly, then the 6 weeks fun starts. grin
Also waiting for a phone call from DD who is doing a presentation for a Graduate Development Role with the organisation she works with at the moment.

Cleaned out the Guinea Pigs again, it's a job DIL hates. Now to get ready to take GS out to lunch ( his school finishes at 1 p.m.) to celebrate his Gold Award ( sorry, boasting again). He's chosen the 'Ring 'o Bells' at Thornton, we are just pleased it isn't that American chain!
GD will have her treat later in our stay.
Must go and smarten up, don't want to let him feel he's in charge of a couple of geriatrics! hmm

glassortwo Fri 20-Jul-12 11:36:41

old enjoy smile

crimson Fri 20-Jul-12 12:34:36

I love guinea pigs smile.

Ariadne Fri 20-Jul-12 14:15:04

Survey done ; all OK. Three hours. Have been out to lunch with a dear friend, and am now having a little lie down. smile

Butternut Fri 20-Jul-12 14:20:44

Phew! smile

Mamie Fri 20-Jul-12 14:27:08

Shopping today in our big town - as we came back there were loads of British cars just off the ferry and whizzing past on their way to the south...
Yesterday spent pruning trees, weeding and out on the vllage weekly walk, so needed a rest today.
Hope you are OK Butternut - I do love the pharmacie, so much stuff to choose from...
