Gally what an exquisite little person!

Congratulations Gally and a lovely name - my grandmother was Harriet. I have only one grandchild and a step so far so I can see I have a lot of catching up to do with all the supergrans on here

It was my birthday yesterday. My son and his wife are on holiday about an hours drive from me in North Dorset. They wanted to take me out for lunch, but with a 3 year old and an 8 month old, both well behaved children, I thought it would be better to have lunch in my garden. It would be more relaxed and less strenuous for parents and babies, as they had a 90 year old gr/granny to visit too. What a lovely day in all aspects. Hot sunny weather, paddling pool and an array of salads, quiche and italian meats, lemonade, new potatoes,cheese, a good spread as my DS said. My daughter managed to wangle a half day off work so she turned up at 2pm and stayed until 10pm! She and I spent the evening with our feet in the paddling pool drinking wine, laughing and talking. That's my idea of heaven, my family.
So today I am mostly clearing up!!

Dorset belated birthday wishes, mine birthday is today, 71 years, and I am just waiting fir DH to bring in my cake and champagne. It is a tradition in our family to have that at 4 pm. We are continuing that even though all the family are far away. I am keeping some for 9 tonight to watch the opening of the Games.

Grandmanorm How lovely for you. Grandson's birthday also today. Happy birthday to you both. I shall be 71 on the 8th. It's a good age. Seem to enjoy life so much more than I ever did as a 'youngster'
