Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

All day with my 2GDs, so warm in Yorkshire it made us all sickly and unable to do the meal justice. GDs slept all the way home in the car and then didn't want to go to bed. GD2 eventually settled at 10.30 and I now have a stonking headache and swollen ankles. I think I need a holiday.

No Ariadne haven't seen that one - I'll find it on the App Store. Thanks smile

Ariadne Sat 21-Jul-12 19:43:58

when have you got More Toast? Mine love it!

Ella46 Sat 21-Jul-12 18:09:37

Lovely Pics when smile

whenim64 Sat 21-Jul-12 18:04:14

Yes, that's what prompted me to look at the app Anagram. grin

Anagram Sat 21-Jul-12 17:58:34

Smelly Cat reminds me of that song Phoebe used to sing in 'Friends'. I used to watch it with my daughter, you understand....

whenim64 Sat 21-Jul-12 17:57:04

Yes, mine play with my iPad. There are some lovely children's games that they enjoy like Old MacDonald's Farm which has jigsaws, other games, songs and a piano that you can also make sound like cats, dogs, horses, cows etc. singing. There's a great game called Smelly Cat, which involves getting the dirty cat to the bath without slipping out of the door or ending up in a funny scuffle with the family dog. Teaches them angles and velocity. I must wipe the sticky finger marks off!! grin

They do love it when they find out how to move around, don't they jeni? And they become alarmingly fast....grin

Greatnan Sat 21-Jul-12 17:53:05

Well done to her, bags. I have a Facebook friend from my French forum who coaches an archery team - she is in London for the Olympics.

jeni Sat 21-Jul-12 17:48:50

Playing with dgd, or rather letting her play with my iPad. Watching her roam round the house and garden. She seems to have found the answer to perpetual motion!

Bags Sat 21-Jul-12 17:46:41

Archery.
DD gained her Red Feather today, the first award for archers under twelve from the international archery assoc (Fédéracion Internationale de Tir a l'Arc, I think). She should get her Gold Feather in a few weeks.

Ariadne, I am very impessed by all the good things your Rotary club does.
When - it sounds quite a lively day!

I have been having my bi-annual haircut ready for my grandson's wedding next month. Unusually for a French hairdresser, she did exactly what I wanted. I had washed it myself and it dries naturally, so she only had to cut it. It took about 15 minutes and cost only €11. I am very pleased with it.

whenim64 Sat 21-Jul-12 17:16:57

Been looking after my cheeky little grandsons who have been having fun hiding the dog's collar, undoing my jigsaw, flicking the mixer speed to super-turbo whilst we were making a fluffy chocolate cake (it wasn't), and locking themselves and the dog in the bathroom. As I handed over yet another triangle of cheese to distract them from mischief, i was told 'you give me these cos you love me, don't you nana?' All forgiven!

Putting some photos on profile smile

Ariadne Sat 21-Jul-12 16:35:26

(Ihave mentioned this on the "summer events" thread too)

Anyway - today I have been at a local fete showing off a Rotary Shelterbox (www.shelterbox.org) and helping run a tombola. And the weather was superb! British summer fetes are great on days like this. Now having an early wine with feet up.

Theseus' Rotary club is running a beer festival so he won't be home for a while; no doubt he will have to do some sampling. He has the local taxi firm's number..

Ariadne Sat 21-Jul-12 16:28:12

I can't do it either - thay all seem to shuffle randomly!

soop Sat 21-Jul-12 15:59:40

Ella My thoughts too. grin

Ella46 Sat 21-Jul-12 15:58:36

The edit function seems to work differently for everyone soop. I think there is a gremlin in there!

soop Sat 21-Jul-12 12:57:47

Have added three new images on my photos. Can anyone explain how I can arrange for the latest additions to be placed at the beginning of the listings. I've tried going to edit, and indicating that I wish images to go to top, second and third spots...but to no avail. confused

Greatnan It is a beautiful day here in sunny Kintyre. smile

Greatnan Fri 20-Jul-12 16:57:22

Thank you, Ariadne - I never stay down for long!
I love Lochgilphead - we stayed twice on a caravan park at Castle Sween in the 1970's - Kintyre is breathtaking and I might well have settled there if the weather had been better. I do need the sunshine.

soop Fri 20-Jul-12 16:46:57

Butter, JessM is so right. I'm concerned for you. Five years ago, I had a tiny scratch [on my thumb] from a latch on a gate. It developed into full-blown streptococcil septicaemia in next to no time. Was on a drip in Oban hospital for a week before the cocktail of drugs got the better of it. Almost lost my arm...[could have been much worse] so it can be extremely serious. Do you have a headache? Please do go for medical help asap if it begins to hurt like crazy or starts to travel in a thin line.

Ariadne Fri 20-Jul-12 16:24:10

Greatnan glad the sun is shining again for you. sunshine

JessM Fri 20-Jul-12 15:36:52

Ow Butternut is it itching? If it turns pus-y see your doctor
Ow if the redness starts spreading upwards in a line see a doctor urgently
Gally sorry to hear you are struggling with jet lag. Funny how it can be worse at some times. Depends on the number of hours sleep you can clock up in part. Easier when you are going into longer lighter days I suspect - it will be getting dark early over there are the moment.

soop Fri 20-Jul-12 15:36:26

Motored to the art gallery in Lochgilphead to have Gally's portrait of Charlie mounted. Very pleasing result smile

Greatnan Fri 20-Jul-12 15:08:48

Thank you, Gally and Glass.
I had an hour long phone call with my daughter in New Zealand - lots of good news about her life and all her children, so I went off cheerfully for a good walk.
