Gally...I hope that your grandson is beginning to feel better. Croup is ghastly. Wee man was recovering from an episode when we visited him in London.
Hope all goes well for you, Ariadne.

Today I've been...
(1001 Posts)Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.
Mishap...good vibes heading your way.
DS used to get it often. We used to treat with steam in those days. Think it's out of fashion now! It worked with just one problem. We had to repaper his bedroom after 6months.
jeni My son, as a child, often had bouts of croup. The steaming kettle remedy was invaluable.
But not for the wallpaper. It starts to peel
Indeed! Also "fogged up" the windows for some long time.
What idiot said Sunday is a day of rest?
Today so far I've got 2nd of 3 loads of washing on, hung 1st to dry.
Got icecream churning in gelatiet
Stacked dishwasher

Oh somewhere I made and ate porridge standing up while doing other things
Glanced at GN

Read files for Tuesday
Vacuum dining room.
Make cottage pie for tonight.
Oh I know what I haven't done ---- drunk my coffee. It's gone cold
Oh, and I'm supposed to be resting my ankle as I have flare up of my arthritis!
mishap here's hoping you are having a better day to-day ((hugs)),and Ariadne it may have been me who suggested only having viewers who can proceed with a purchase, any one who views who has been told they cannot afford it are wasting your time and their own time surely, when we sold our family home I insisted that only people who could proceed with a purchase should be sent to view, but at the time the housing market was boyant and I had two people fighting over the property at on point, you can never tell now if someone who has not had an offer on their property will not have one this time next week ?.Good luck
Just files to read now. I'm signing off until I've read them otherwise I shall get distracted.
Driving home from Derbyshire after my lovely visit to eldest DD, her partner, and my lovely grandson. Youngest DD and I had a lovely time. More about it all, no doubt, in bits, when I've caught up on GN.
Cheers to annobel and when for a very enjoyable lunch on Wednesday! Such fun meeting up with other GN-ers and finding that we really have got to know each other in the virtual world
Wondered where you where! Was getting worried
Been watching the tennis and hobbling around on a very painful hip this weekend, I hope it sorts itself out soon I can't be doing with this sort of pain on a daily basis, it usually lasts a few hours and then gets better , but maybe the time is coming to get serious about the surgery...
Shame about the tennis!
The results of THR are miraculous! I'm on my third in in 20 years the oldest is just 20yrs old!
Go for it!
Clearing out two bedrooms for decorating. Can't move for boxes and the rooms themselves still aren't clear. It's actually getting beyond me and I've got a long shift at work tomorrow. Decorator coming first thing Tuesday. A lot of it is my son's stuff; his house is really tiny and he can't keep a lot of things there, especially now that his girlfriend has moved in. I'm not putting anything back into the rooms until it has been sorted out properly or thrown away. This is part of the clear out that I want to do now rather than in a few years when it will be more difficult. Also full of toys belonging to the grandson that no longer visits. Finding it physically and emotionally very tiring. Also only got a tiny bit of bed to sleep on tonight, the rest of it covered in clutter! I may nip out for a few minutes now it has stopped raining to tidy my car so that at least I can have a clutter free car [it's been raining too hard over the past few days to do anything other than get out of the car and leg it indoors as quickly as possible.....]. Will have a cup of tea and start again. However, I have just finished the blessed course that I had to do for work; I can't tell you the weight that is off my back
.
Recovering!!
Our youngest daughter ran away to get married on Friday leaving the 6 month old with us. He was super but there is no down time!
Saturday - the happy couple had a party to celebrate so all beds were occupied and lots of people stayed and also popped in. My sister in law, who stayed, says sitting in our kitchen is like being in the middle of a soap opera! At the party, I was fairly abstemious, which is more than can be said for my husband who rolled in at 3.30 and proceeded to snore till I could cope no more and I got up to make some tea for me and visitors! Normally, I would move into a spare bed but there were none!
Today - visited Mum (
&
in equal measure) and completed my yearly review for my volunteering role which was quite a delicate task as I wanted to put some issues across without getting the sack!!
Also completed my CRB form. I don't understand why they can't take for granted all the documentation they need to have verified as I have been doing this for 13 years! Surely a person, such as my manager, could just confirm who I am without seeing (again!!) my passport, birth and marriage certs together with a utility bill (or in my case, a credit card bill which was looking pretty horrendous, what with weddings, parties etc)
I am, after all and quite obviously, the same person I was last time!
How exciting, kittylester, a real-life runaway marriage!
Sounds as though a great deal of fun was had by all - congratulations to the happy couple!
I agree about the CRB checks - my daughter has been working at the same place for at least 10 years but still has to have it renewed every year...
It's a way of collecting revenue – CRB checks have to be paid for each time. Hidden tax is all the constant repeats are.
Car is now tidy [and clean on the outside due to all the rain!]. May move into car which is a haven of tranquility compared to the house. kitty; have you thought of the car? Tempted to jump into car, put on some very loud music and go for a drive round a bit just for a change of scenery but forgot to fill up with petrol on Friday. Would drive to garage but bet it's closed now [darn it].
Agree that CRBs overdone. The last government tried to rationalise the system (vetting and barring it was going to be called) unfortunately they over egged slightly. Remember the fuss about volunteer mini bus drivers and authors going into schools? But it would have had the huge advantage that you could transport them e.g. from sunday school to brownies. The current home secretary kicked the whole idea into limbo, where it remains. So thanks to her you can still have whole portfolios of the darn things. I think it is a* covering not revenue raising in the main.
Bags! Glad to see you back!
Welcome back Bags x
Today! Too busy. Tired.
Work tomorrow.
Night all!
Goodnight jeni
I'm with you Crimson, One of my escapes is to drive round the countryside with Meatloaf or Johnny Cash blaring (depending on circumstances!!) I usually join in but keep the windows firmly closed. Not every eco-friendly but by that stage the world can look out for itself as far as I'm concerned!
