Happy to log on after a short break in London. I've missed you all. Have masses to catch up on. Will need to return later to tell you all about our trip. For all the pain of the journey down, it was a marvellous treat and we've returned with some sooper memories.

Elegran Wed 11-Jul-12 14:35:47

The first time I ate asparagus I thought I must have a bladder infection.

soop Wed 11-Jul-12 15:07:57

Was the pee green, Elegran?

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 15:11:25

grin

Anagram Wed 11-Jul-12 15:32:07

Don't they test wee to see if you're pregnant any more, then? confused

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 15:34:53

I remember when we used to use frogs or mice for that!
Never did it by just looking or tasting though?

Anagram Wed 11-Jul-12 15:37:40

Oh! Is that what we were talking about...? blush
Forget I spoke!

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 15:39:39

Why? Anagram? Do you need a pregnancy test?

Anagram Wed 11-Jul-12 15:41:09

Err...it's not for me, it's for my friend....honest! blush

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 15:44:55

Today I have been cursing the large temporary filling put in yesterday which proved to be true to its description and promptly fell out 24 hours after being put in! Live 45 miles away from my dentist sad and permanent solution not ready until 2 weeks time!

Dentist says to buy emergency filler from Boots (diy dentistry I presume!), must hunt some down tomorrow. In the meantime will pour some more wine to keep spirits up wink

jeni Wed 11-Jul-12 17:17:44

wine doesn't keep spirits up. It's wine. Spirits are things like VODKA, gin!

Today was ridiculously quiet at our CAB while last Thursday was quite the reverse. Such a shame to be hanging around waiting for drop-in clients when it was one of the very few dry days we've had.
Last night our NWR had our annual visit to the outdoor theatre at Gawsworth Hall, this time, to see The Rivals. Amazingly the sky cleared, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and we were able to have our picnic before the performance although it was quite cold and we weren't exactly dressed for summer. The production was good, very funny and well paced; and we thoroughly enjoyed it - as usual.

Well, here I am in sunny Sydney. 20 degrees today despite being told it's winter and most of the locals all 'rugged-up' and booted! Lovely to see the gc's after a year. Only been here for 15 hours and have already been to the midwife with D2 and done a food shop. The journey was good apart from having to do a 25 minute dash from one end of the airport in Hong Kong to the other to get my connection, and I managed to sleep for 7 hours once I arrived here, so with any luck I am into Oz time already. Strange old world - you get into a tin can, take off into space and arrive on the other side of the world in less than 22 hours smile

Bags Fri 13-Jul-12 05:58:40

Glad your journey was pretty straight forward. Now get down to enjoying your stay, gally smile

Thanks for the good wishes last night folks. i stayed dry eyed we went to an old fashioned pub and had delicious white bread sandwiches and I got a gift. Anyone want gift details please pm. Oh and the speech went fine. Nice to go out on a high - Good in oftsted last summer (first time in over 40 yrs) best results ever every year for last 5 and should be no longer classed as poor this year , attendance now around national average!! (set a mean target last year - 2% improvement and they did it) and stable management team that have all grown into their jobs. Quit while you're ahead , I thought.
Gally - its best to keep going the first day. So much easier when you get there than when you come back i find. I know what you mean about HK it is about a mile long if not more. Great if you want a brisk walk and have an hour to spare. When is your daughter's due date.
20deg, we wish. My son in NZ says he is having so far a great winter. Warm enough to sit ouside the cafe and go paddle boarding!
