I like the sound of the gnome! I've still got Mr Happy in my garden, badly in need of a lick of paint but still reminding me of holidays in Cornwall long long ago. At least you didn't bring them home and give them to someone else; that would have been awkward for the recipients . I hope I'm not giving you bad ideas there, though......

I am sure you could sell them on e-bay, or give them to your charity shop.

I'm going to give the gnome to my grandson. He, being a seven year old teenager, will feel an affinity with it.

To illustrate my last remark (Jonah in the Whale......) I paid £120 for a plane ticket from Manchester to Nice for my sister to visit me when I lived in Monaco. She duly arrived, but her suitcase didn't and I spent several hours hassling Air France. She then said 'It might not have got on the plane - they were just taking away the steps when I got there and I had to run across the tarmac'.
Apart from not telling me this before I made an idiot of myself with AF, I wondered why she was so late. She said their car would not start. I asked why she didn't call a cab. She said it would have cost £10. The fare was non-refundable.
I love my sister dearly, but she manages something like this every time I arrange anything for her.

I've a small garden pool. I've been looking for a nice statue of the god Priapus to go by it.
I thought it would make change from the usual cherubs, dolphins, half naked ladies etc.
If anyone has one they don't want perhaps they would consider my poolside as a suitable home for him?

jeni what an excellent idea! If you had jingl's lady statue, maybe she would drop her robes in delight at Priapus. If I see such a statue on my travels, I shall buy it for you.

You can get lots of pictures of the painting outside the house of the Vetii on Pompeii, and pictures of the lovely alabaster statue of the Priapus in the room off the kitchen in the same house (definitely not circumcised)
But actual stone statues , no!
