Soon we are going to this party, and the invitation says no presents, but we are related. They are very, very financially fortunate, and have all that they could want in terms of material things - twice over.
I can't think of anything we might buy them that we could afford, or they like, as our tastes are so different.
Would a huge bunch of Rubekias, cut from the garden, tied with raffia, do the business, along with a home made card???

Yes, indeed, Butter! Those gifts would show thoughtfulness, as well as being appropriate! smile

Sounds lovely & personal too which is always a bonus!!

I have also had invites which have said no pressies and on a couple of occasions along with a group of mutual friends we clubbed together and bought a charity gift ( a goat / mosquito nets etc) appropriate to the interests of the person concerned.

Yes, a lovely bunch of flowers and a charity donation would make me very happy.

I have quite often written a Charities Aid cheque for them to pay to the charity of their choice. For a 60th I make it £60. Thank goodness nobody has clocked up more than that (so far!)

That's nice!smile

how about taking your lovely gift a day or two early if you live near enough then the recipient will have time to arrange them and show them off at the party. I really like the golden theme.

I have usually given a "Golden Wedding" rose bush. I even found one in France!

Great idea, and I think Hunt is right, take them early. I have a similar party coming up for sister of DH and don't know what to do either. We are staying in the house, so although it says"no presents" I want to take something as a staying guest.
