I'm divorced but my ex-OH always wore a wedding ring. I think either both should or neither should.

Why so much made of this today? James O'Brien on LBC took an hour to cover it too - its much of a fashion thing now, whereas when I got married in 1958, no man around that I knew wore one, my father-in-law didn't, my father didnt, brother didn't, but now my son does and as do so many! I think it's very much a mixture of class and fashion now - do what you want to do...... We are becoming much more of a classless society, thank goodness - non-u - you never hear nowadays, very much a rather unpleasant reminder of what one used to hear the whole time!! Men sometimes wore signet rings with the family crest on - my father and husband both had them and with my rather lefty attitude, it sits in my jewellery box! The burglars took all mine before the signet ring arrived!

My husband got a ring the same time as I did when we got engaged but after a couple of years it began to cause a rash (wasn't gold) so he stopped wearing it and we never bothered to replace it. When we got married I used my engagement ring as my wedding ring so we never bought traditional wedding rings.

Mr absent works mainly with his hands (and his brain, of course) so wearing a ring would be extremely hazardous. You can rip off a finger when a ring catches in things. I wear what we call the badge of ownership on my left hand.

petallus you are like me I hardly ever wear my rings I have the reason being that you don't need a ring to show commitment, but DH has always worn his since we married.

My DH does wear a ring, but my ex never did and I have noticed he doesn't second time round either. I love the fact that this one wanted to,it felt like commitment, after years of being married to a love rat- although I don't expect every one do wear one, it felt right for us.

Dh wore a signet ring with our entwined initials on for 49 years, until he died this spring. Now I wear it. The initials are worn, but the ring fits me perfectly.

We both wear rings.. DD1 and her DH had matching rings made which they wore on right hand for years before they chose to marry. Now they have wedding rings too!

My husband has always worn his wedding ring from the day we married 17yrs ago he's proud to wear it. It doesn't bother me whether he does or he doesn't but its important to him. My grandson who has only been married a week fully intends to not wear his ring when he's working as its a hazard in the building trade , he said his new wife isn't bothered about it.
I do wear my wedding ring but its more because its important to my husband than myself..

Interesting discussion on The Wright Stuff about whether men should wear a wedding ring. Doesn't affect me, of course, but I wondered if you agree with Matthew Wright that men who won't wear a ring are not ready to signal that they are 'off the market'!
I wear an engagement ring on my left hand ring finger - it used to save me getting hassled when that was still a problem and now it is just a habit.
