Yes, I heard this article. It was on the Today programme, wasn't it? 
I thought the most interesting thing, to be honest, was what they had to say about advertising. Apparently the Oldie doesn't manage to attract very much of it. When the interviewer asked why they thought this might be, Richard Ingrams replied that manufacturers probably realised people of our age were too savvy to be taken in with their 'skills', but the man from the Oldie's advertising agency, who was in on the interview with Ingrams, thought it more likely that manufacturers don't want their products to become associated with older people! I think the most likely explanation for the lack of advertising they attract is simply that it is thought that older people don't have much money to spend. What happened to the grey pound?!
I wonder if Gransnet has similar difficulties.
