Do dragons have religion?
How many types of dragon have we?
How many people have had a a meaningful discussion with a dragon?

Are dragons neccessary?

The dragon was Donkey's love interest in Shrek. You wouldn't want Donkey to go through life without ever knowing love.

I like the dragon on Merlin - it sounds just like John Hurt.

No! Not bored!
Just a query about dragons? I love sci fi dragons. So wondered what other people thought?
Also was intrigued by the thought of a 'pagan' dragon?
Seems to have provoked some amusing responses.

Have had a very hard day. Tell you about it in "the close "

And then of course, there was Puff, the Magic Dragon...but that's another story...wink

I have been away fro GN for two days, come back, have read two threads and do not understand anything that is going on; off to lie down in darkened room. ()When I've read the rest!)

There is a beautiful dragon in the series 'Merlin' (voice by John Hurt). Unfortunately he is the last of his kind due to persecution by Uther Pendragon who hates magic.

Quite right, absent. It's a case of supply and demand!

absentgrana Thu 26-Jul-12 13:49:20

Mind you, I'm not sure that maidens aren't an endangered species as well and that could also account for a shortage of dragons.

George always struck me as a quixotic nit-wit. Some of the depictions of him and the dragon are laughable – it's just a wee beastie.

absentgrana Thu 26-Jul-12 13:39:42

granjura I'm not so sure about the heroic status of St George. It seems to me travelling about slaying dragons willy nilly is not to be recommended. No wonder they are an endangered species.

Notsogrand Thu 26-Jul-12 13:36:24

You were just bored weren't you jeni? grin

jeni Thu 26-Jul-12 13:18:59

granjura Thu 26-Jul-12 12:39:29

hero - I meant. Such a shame there's not an 'edit' function heresmile

granjura Thu 26-Jul-12 12:38:50

Well St George is the Patron Saint of England and slayed a beautiful dragon. A here indeed.

As a Syrian, he would not be allowed in the country now.
Now there is food for thoughtsmile

Sook Thu 26-Jul-12 12:21:39

Of course Dragons exist! What about Puff the Magic Dragon?
My MIL is a Welsh Dragon I just wish she would return to her lair in the Preseli Hills.

My DH was born in 1952 which was the Chinese Year of the Dragon.

JO4 Thu 26-Jul-12 12:09:26

JO4 Thu 26-Jul-12 11:56:35

jeni...........

When you say "How many types of dragon have we?" do you mean, in the world? In the country...............

Or on Gransnet?

You're not being naughty again are you?

feetlebaum Thu 26-Jul-12 11:46:21

Vegetarians are Buddhists? That should damp down their fire!
