Boris Johnson

By rights I should hate Boris Johnson. He's everything I despise about our society. Privileged by accident of birth, Eton educated, rich from family wealth rather than person effort, Tory, totally unable to imagine life as an ordinary person....the list is endless. But then Boris opens his mouth and the most bizarre words come out. He makes me laugh and how can I not like a man who makes me laugh? How can you not laugh when a politician (people who normally watch every word they say) comes out with,

'As I write these words there are semi-naked women playing beach volleyball in the middle of the Horse Guards Parade immortalised by Canaletto. They are glistening like wet otters and the water is plashing off the brims of the spectators' sou'westers. The whole thing is magnificent and bonkers.'

I can't help it. I love Boris.

'The movement you need is on your shoulder'? Is that really right? confused
How strange...

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 19:24:33

That's alright Nonu. smile

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 19:19:57

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 19:18:58

Hey Jude, don't make it bad
Take a sad song and make it better
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
Hey Jude, don't be afraid
You were made to go out and get her
The minute you let her under your skin
Then you begin to make it better
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder
Na na na, na na, na na na na
Hey Jude, don't let me down
You have found her, now go and get her
Remember to let her into your heart
Then you can start to make it better
So let it out and let it in, hey Jude, begin
You're waiting for someone to perform with
And don't you know that it's just you? Hey Jude, you'll do
The movement you need is on your shoulder
Na na na, na na, na na na na, Hey Jude.......................................

Just saw on the news that he took Rupert Murdoch to the games last night [who is possibly backing him as a potential leader]. So, sorry Boris; our love affair is over. You really are the right wing buffoon that you appear to be.

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 19:10:57

Granjura , No, No , I believe I said on two posts that I thought it was INTERESTING that Boris had invited Murdock flag

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 19:06:38

It's all these bloody blooming flags everywhere! hmm

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 19:05:56

This thread is getting a little bit muddled up. grin

I don't know who said what. Or why.

granjura Sat 04-Aug-12 19:03:24

Nonu - was it not you who asked 'why' it was very badly misjudged to personally invite Murdoch to the Olympics as official guest?!?

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 18:22:50

I didn't support anything.

And I'm getting bored with the Olympics now.

I want Casualty back on the telly.

[petulant pout]

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 18:20:41

forgot flag whatever will I do when olympics over

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 18:19:29

Granjura , who supported it ?

Annobel Sat 04-Aug-12 18:16:31

Given the recent track record of News International, I'm concerned that any British political leader (if that's what BJ is) would touch Murdoch with a bargepole. And, by the way, that also goes for Alex Salmond who appeared to be courting him at one time.

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 18:13:26

grin

granjura Sat 04-Aug-12 18:13:13

Nothing wrong with being patriotic - but I find it bizarre to say the least that anybody would support Murdoch's personal invitation by Boris (:

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 18:11:38

My shout , cocktail , beer , cider whatever ! flag

jeni Sat 04-Aug-12 18:04:54

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 17:45:29

You might well blush young lady , I am only being patriotic , flag

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 17:42:22

Sorry. blush

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 17:42:07

Nonu will you quit the flippin' flags!!! hmm

Nonu Sat 04-Aug-12 17:38:50

genuine !flag

granjura Sat 04-Aug-12 17:14:11

Nonu, not sure about your 'why'? Response will vary depending on whether is was a funny, sarcastic approval - or a genuine question?

JessM Sat 04-Aug-12 14:21:16

Nothing wrong with being high as a kite as such. it is just a case of where it will get him.
However he is the Mayor of London so at times, a certain amount of tact may be needed.
"low self control" is a professional judgement - It describes the sort of person who is the opposite of the cautious, inhibited, stiff upper lip, stereotype of an English man. He has been in trouble a number of times due to indiscretion and general lack of caution in various ways. He tends to blurt things out and also his clothing is a bit uncontrolled - I heard an MP describe how he was sitting next to him in the House one day and realised that BJ's trousers were stapled together along the inside seam! Not to mention the scruffy un-done jacket in Bejing which was not polite to his hosts in China.
Low self control is great trait in a comedian for instance.
I count myself as someone with naturally low self control - it has got me into trouble in the past, that's for sure. So I know of what I speak. grin

JO4 Sat 04-Aug-12 13:35:25

"low self control"!!! That's just mean. |How can you possibly know that?

And is there anything wrong with being "high as a kite on the Olympics"? Should we all stay in gloomy mode and let this fantastic event pass us by? hmm
