The Word YES

Has the word yes gone for ever? You do still hear it from time-to-time , however, I'm listening to Radio 4 and yeah seems to be the word for yes. Interviewers on TV, newsreaders, Boris Johnson, David Cameron - everyone says YEAH. People who should know better.

It's often replaced with "Absolutely!" as well.

As a child in Scotland I got into trouble for say "Uh-huh" for yes, I notice they don't do that down here.

Onomatopoeic is a lovely word, and a lovely idea - all those words like squish and pitter-patter.

Know what you mean about looking things up in dictionary , I"ve had to do it several times , good excersise for THE LEETLE GREY CELLS, They are a bright bunch on this GN, sometimes too bright for little old me x flag

Nonu I can pronounce it (and possibly even spell it) but which word did you mean was onomatopoeic – yes or absolutely? But what sound relates to either of these words? confused
