Well that is wonderful news , she has been poached by channel 4 to present : Grand National , Ascot , Cheltenham and Glorious Goodwood . Iam so pleased as it wouldn"t have been the same without her . Hope Willy goes as well smile

Nonu Sat 03-Aug-13 17:27:21

He did , Good boy !!

Did you manage to catch any of the racing ?

Tegan Sat 03-Aug-13 17:15:22

Did he back the Gosden horse?

Nonu Sat 03-Aug-13 17:07:25

Well done Hughsie , love you to bits , so does my bank balance !!!

Pity he got a 2 week ban for , for "Careless Riding" on Pethers Moon .

So he now has had 7 winners for 4 years in a row, well done .

Also has been given a years free membership at Goodwood Golf Course !

What a shambles in the 3.15, all bunching up , terrible although Mr N does not think so ! wonder why? HA,HA

smile

I never go anywhere on Saturday afternoons [unles I'm actually going racin]g. Hughesie says there a lot of 'dead wood' in the Nassau..he's probably referring to Sajjhaa blush. Crikey; doesn't he ride that course well!

Nonu Sat 03-Aug-13 13:09:40

Good luck then , I am off to have some lunch before I settle down for a pleasurable [hopefully] afternoon of racing .

You viewing also ??

Tegan Sat 03-Aug-13 13:02:22

Sajjhaa ew I'd be tempted to have but haven't really studied the race properly and 10/1 isn't all that good a price for an outsider [not much value anywhere these days].

Nonu Sat 03-Aug-13 12:50:06

Coo ,not ARF !!

Tegan Sat 03-Aug-13 12:40:40

This is really stupid of me; I kept reading the horses name as Moovee Essstar not Movie Star so didn't put two and two together [even after the horse had won]. Same thing happened with a bumper winner at Cheltenham that won at a huge price [and I was told to back Danedream for the Arc by several different people and I didn't..even someone that had been dining with her owners the night before the race]. It hurts even more when that happens.

Nonu Sat 03-Aug-13 12:33:47

Mr N got Moviesta , asked him why ? Answer Harry Redknap owns it !

Suppose a good a reason as any , anyway he was not complaining ! grin

Tegan Sat 03-Aug-13 12:21:28

Well, I'd like to see Hot Snap run a big race for Jane, although, being a Pivotal you'd wonder if last nights rain softened the ground enough for her [they're very sweet on her at Warren Place[. Quite liked the look of one of the older horses [whose name escapes me]. When I've retired I'll have more time to study it all a bit more. I could kick myself in that yesterdays winner, Moviesta had been raved about on one of my racing forums for weeks and I hadn't picked up on it.

"She's know as bl**dy Claire Balding in my house as like Stephen Fry and Benedict Cumberbatch she is in everything or so it seems."

That's because they are rather good at it. I know there is nothing easier than someone else's job, but still...

Nonu Sat 03-Aug-13 11:49:05

Have you made up your mind which you favour , I am sticking with tried and tested two H"s , they have been very good to me this week !!

I like Claire very much I think she has a very natural way with her !

fingers crossed eh !

Tegan Sat 03-Aug-13 11:42:07

The Sky Lantern, Just the Judge race this afternoon is one to savour. However, if Hot Snap gets the go ahead she might beat both of them. I don't think Clare will go the way of Alan Titchmarch and Carol Vordermann as she has far more talent and intelligence than those two but I know what you mean about overexposure [although I did watch a bit of Sherlock last night and think I'm starting to 'get' the Cumberbatch adoration thing; not personally I hasten to add].

dorsetpennt Sat 03-Aug-13 10:09:42

She's know as bl**dy Claire Balding in my house as like Stephen Fry and Benedict Cumberbatch she is in everything or so it seems. The TV moguls seems to get a crush on someone and that's it we see them all the time before they are dropped. Alan Titchmouse and Carol Vordemann being a couple of examples.

AGAIN , well done Hughsie . I read that Mark Johnson was supposed to be the "one" , how wrong were they .

The Hannons are sweeping the board .

Wonderful for the punters !!!

Nonu Fri 02-Aug-13 13:04:52

A funny story ! -- well we thought so,

Mr N. just been down to place our bets , assistant hands him back completed slip with B/O written on , with the remark that doesn't mean "bugger off" , it means " Best Odds " .

We roared !!!

Tegan Wed 31-Jul-13 22:47:21

She's one of the few presenters that hasn't been to our racing club [can't see Clare ever turning up]. Lydia Hislop is 'our leader' and most of the Ch4 team have been over the years. Mike Catt was lovely, as was Nick Luck [he'd just got back from the Breeders Cup and all we could talk about was that]. Wonder who'll turn up this year for our autumn get together?

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 22:28:56

That"s it she has had her cut , but in the past she put in more effort , because as we all know the camera can be very unforgiving .
Mr N remarked also he thought he saw McCrick hovering .

However we have to see how it all pans out , I for one am quite interested , as nowadays the presenters play nearly as much part as the horses & jockeys.

Tegan Wed 31-Jul-13 22:06:54

Well, she's had her hair cut rather short and it looks a bit severe. I don't think she's ever liked having to dress up; I'm sure she'd much rather dress comforably and spend more time studying the racing. She's much prettier in real life than on the telly. I know McCririck was hovering around today; I'm wondering if that unsettled her?

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 21:14:46

I am still in the middle of Goodwood , that takes all my time , I will think about the Ebor later .
smile

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 21:10:15

Tegan what was your take on Tania ? or didn't you see her ?

Tegan Wed 31-Jul-13 21:02:51

By the way, Hunt Ball is having his first run in America tomorrow night; not expected to win, just get a feel for the place. Sounds as if he's enjoying his new life over there.

Tegan Wed 31-Jul-13 20:50:46

I was terrified for Amy, especially as her partner has only just come out of intensive care after a crashing fall a few weeks ago. I really feared for the worse when I saw her and it was the best sight of the day when she got to her feet. I'm so looking forward to The Ebor and have started studying it already smile.

Nonu Wed 31-Jul-13 20:30:27

Right Here we go ,

a] you must break your golden rule for the racing , CH.4 1.30 til Saturday , Goodwood

b]
I cannot really tell you what happened as I don"t know what you want to know !!

c]The Yorkshire Ebor Festival 21st -24th August , will be good , always is .

d] Didn"t see Amy fall on Saturday as only really watch Big Meetings .

Enjoy , enjoy, enjoy as I do , and if you have a small wager hope you are lucky . x

Anne58 Wed 31-Jul-13 20:09:15

Oh bloody hell, I've been sticking to my "no television until at least 7.30pm" rule! So therefore no watching the racing!

Pleeeeaaase tell me what happened!?

PS Did you see that awful fall that Amy Ryan had last Saturday?
