Absent & I are meeting for lunch in Newcastle on the 6th September feel free to add your name if you would like to join us.

moomin Fri 17-Aug-12 22:04:13

Well I say The Living Room or La Tasca - whichever is the easiest in terms of sitting for a while nattering without feeling uncomfortable about taking our time!
I've not been to either though confused - have you experienced either glass? (I'm incredibly empathetic btw wink)

glassortwo Fri 17-Aug-12 22:13:54

Been to La Tasca and was very laid back and food was good, but not been to The Living Room but DD has just looked shocked when I mentioned The Living Room she said 'ohh you dont want to go there'!!!

moomin Fri 17-Aug-12 22:20:29

Er . . . right - let's tick that one off the list then!

glassortwo Fri 17-Aug-12 22:26:05

It looked good didnt it moomin

absentgrana Sat 18-Aug-12 12:04:29

So is it La Tasca? That would be okay with me. Out of curiosity, what does your daughter consider bad about The Living Room? It looked quite nice, but then I suppose it would on its website.

glassortwo Sat 18-Aug-12 18:27:06

I will ask absent she went off on a tangent after mentioning Living Room.

Looking forward to meetin you too Jane (assuming we can agree on where grin)

glassortwo Sat 18-Aug-12 22:49:27

How about La Tasca wink

moomin Sun 19-Aug-12 08:24:17

La Tasca sounds good. Shall we meet up there and do we wear red carnations or something to recognise each other wink? If so, all we need to decide is the timing?

glassortwo Sun 19-Aug-12 08:31:50

Good morning moomin absent will be coming by train so if we co-ordinate with her arrival times, I will meet her at the station, that will give you time to get into to Town from your yoga class.

moomin Sun 19-Aug-12 10:21:07

Hi glass - where is the best place to park near the Quayside? I usually park near St James's so a bit of a hike! I'm coming in from the Blaydon direction

absentgrana Sun 19-Aug-12 11:05:06

glass I'll look up train times – they are pretty frequent – and let you know. Thanks for offering to meet me at the station. Looking forward to seeing all of you.

Stansgran Tue 21-Aug-12 18:05:04

Love to go but have a permanent meeting on thurs. Enjoy.(Fenwicks bistro 21 or cafe 21 whatever it's called is always good for another meetup.La Tasca does a good 3-5 tapas +drink for a reasonable amount

glassortwo Tue 04-Sept-12 08:35:08

Sorry I was away all last week and the internet was down yesterday. I am meeting absent at the station around 12.40 so are we all ok with La Tasca. I am off to school now 1st day back so will be back later sunshine

ayse Tue 04-Sept-12 15:22:34

Hello everyone

I wish I could come but unfortunately I'm still working full time. I hope you have a fantastic meal and I'll look forward to being able to join you in a couple of years time. I've always had OK food at La Taska so I'll enjoy my virtual meal with you on Thursday.
Bon Apetit (think that's right) hmm wine cupcake

harrigran Tue 04-Sept-12 16:20:05

Just to confirm, we are meeting at the Quayside, just realised there is another La Tasca.

moomin Tue 04-Sept-12 18:34:03

Still hoping to make it on Thursday, but have a tooth abscess at the moment and it's bloomin' painful - can't bear to eat on it! Have started antibiotics today so hopefully will be "up for it" on Thursday!

I'm considering catching the train instead of bringing the car - I reckon I can get to the station at 12:27 so could maybe meet up with glass and absent there?

harri - I'm assuming the Quayside, perhaps glass can confirm?

absentgrana Tue 04-Sept-12 20:03:23

moomin The good thing about antibiotics is that they kick in quite quickly. I do so hope that you are feeling a lot better by Thursday. My train gets into Newcastle about 12.40 and I am quite happy to meet up with you there – and I have no doubt glass, who is a total sweetie, wouldn't have a problem either. I shall check your profile so that I have some idea of what you look like and you can check glass's. I don't have a profile because I tried it and sounded so boring. However, if you check the Glasgow meet up site, here are photographs of all us who were there, including me, looking gigantic.

glassortwo Tue 04-Sept-12 20:17:57

Ohh I am looking forward to meeting you all, yes its the quayside harri. moomin thats a good idea coming by train, My DD is dropping me off so I will be early for absent but would be in good time for your train.

Ayse what a shame you cant make the meeting, but hopefully our next meeting you will be better fixed.

moomin Tue 04-Sept-12 22:23:08

Hey absent don't think you look gigantic! I'm 5'8" so not a petite girl!! Yes, hopefully the antibiotics will kick in, they'd better as I'm flippin' hungry and can't really eat anything substantial (still, good for the waistline!).

We'll have to select a meeting place at the station! Looking forward to meeting up smile

glassortwo Tue 04-Sept-12 22:49:37

moomin sorry I forgot to say get well soon, once the antibiotics kick in hopefully you should be ok.
I dont possess a beret like bags so I will wait outside of WH Smiths. I will be the strange woman grinning at every suitable gran who passes, thats if they dont send the men in the white coats for me.
Forgot to say I am short and fat grin

Are we meeting everyone else at La Tasca?

harrigran Wed 05-Sept-12 00:34:34

Probably better if I just go to La Tasca as I am not coming on train or metro.
I am 5'6" and with blondish short hair and absolutely no good telling you what I will be wearing because I am too indecisive to plan in advance grin
