Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...grin

I'm up bright and early this am the washing is on the line and the slow cooker on for a chilli to-night,doing some cake baking at the minute then off to the Charity shop for my normal Saturday session there, wondering what delights I will come across today.I've had a couple of relaxing days and been spoilt by family and friends but time now to get up and go and back to normal (what ever normal is ) ?? smile
notso I have used Potassium for cystitus it works well always good idea as you say to keep some in the fridge for emergencies.

Notsogrand Sat 15-Sept-12 08:39:14

I keep a bottle of Potassium Citrate in the fridge and take it at the first twinge of cystitus, it's very effective and fast acting. It comes in the form of various over the counter preparations, but if you ask the pharmacist they'll make you up a bottle of Pot. Cit. for next to nothing.

Up at seven with my two bright-eyed grandsons, aged 4. They're having a sleepover. They asked to go to bed at 7.15pm so they could have stories with the dog (!) who spent the night sneaking into their room and being fired out again, amidst protests...'pleeeeease let her sleep on my bed.' This morning, they're playing pirates in the bedroom, with the dog happily charging back down the stairs each time they instruct her to 'walk the plank!' Happy days! smile

Local application perhaps Anno ? grin

kittylester Sat 15-Sept-12 07:53:55

Anno: I always get cystitis after flying which I now try to avoid - hope you ate feeling a bit better now.

annodomini Fri 14-Sept-12 23:24:48

Gally, I eat plain yoghurt every day for breakfast. What else do you suggest I should do with it? grin
I've just got back from Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre's production of The Country Wife - really good fun and lots of 'naughty' insinuation. I love going with the U3A group - apart form everything else it saves us the bother of parking the car as we all go in a bus together.

Gally Fri 14-Sept-12 21:52:36

greatnan - probably, but it's worth a try! I use it for anything and everything. external and internal grin

Greatnan Fri 14-Sept-12 20:08:42

Gally - isn't the plain yoghurt for thrush?

soop Fri 14-Sept-12 18:19:14

One step at a time, glass. Mr soop is the cautious one. He tries to keep my enthusiasm in check. As a retired architect, he know the pitfalls only too well. However, I can tell by his demeanour, that he's feeling more upbeat. And that makes me smile

It's 'bye for now. I wish you all a very pleasant evening. Catch up with some much-needed sleep, Gally.

glassortwo Fri 14-Sept-12 17:20:25

soop the kinda casual look is in vogue this season grin it sounds as though things are moving along nicely with the plot for you both sunshine

soop Fri 14-Sept-12 17:18:53

Gally Most certainly will. smile

Gally Fri 14-Sept-12 17:07:02

Woke up this morning after 12 hours 'induced' sleep thanks to an over-the-counter product I acquired in Oz (Restavit). So far so good. Looking forward now to getting home next week.
soop sounds good news! Re:Charlie, would you be able to bring him with you in October?
anno have you tried plain yoghurt?

Bags Fri 14-Sept-12 16:41:50

Well, I like your casual look. smile

soop Fri 14-Sept-12 16:40:16

It's true, Bags. grin

Bags Fri 14-Sept-12 16:33:02

soop, smile

soop Fri 14-Sept-12 16:31:34

anno You're a star* smile

We've had a very busy and productive few hours in Lochgilphead. Went into the planning office and spoke at length to a man who deals with Building Control. Had another meeting with a very helpful lady at SEPA. Percolation tests on the plot will be carried out on Mon, weather permitting. A friend from the village is giving us use of a wee digger. Need to meet with Highways re the access...and test for Radon gas. Perhaps, by the end of the month, we'll have enough info' to enable us to go ahead with an offer on the plot. There are so many variables. We are, at this stage, very optimistic.

Also had my hair trimmed and blow-dried. It looked very elegant as I left the salon. And then, a 60 mph wind blew up Loch Gilp, and hey ho...it's back to looking kinda casual! wink

annodomini Fri 14-Sept-12 15:20:04

Strangely enough, that's what she says, Greatnan!

Greatnan Fri 14-Sept-12 15:05:49

Well done, Anno - what would she do without you?

annodomini Fri 14-Sept-12 15:03:38

Today I went to Manchester to pick up GD and take her to the doctor. She had swollen glands in her neck and was generally very under the weather. Mind you, when she is ill, she is ill - takes after my ex, her GF! Anyway, it is neither mumps nor glandular fever - she's very run down as a result of her hectic holiday job (painting and refurbishing student houses for her landlord), and consequently vulnerable to any passing virus. We went to Aldi and stocked up with things that don't take too much chewing. Granny to the rescue as usual!

annodomini Thu 13-Sept-12 19:27:20

Thanks, OGM and Marelli, all advice welcome, even if not taken wink. I've got an antibiotic; dislike cranberry juice and am not on warfarin. Might get some lemon barley water though.

annodomini Thu 13-Sept-12 19:24:18

Don't think you've poisoned me Greatnan! You fed me very well and I really can't pin anything on you. grin

Marelli Thu 13-Sept-12 19:13:15

Aah - you're home again, Gally! Perishing here, eh! Nice to know that you're safely back.
Annodomini, sorry to hear about the cystitis sad. Lemon barley water is also very good, as is cranberry juice - though remember, if you're on 'Warfarin' you mustn't take cranberry juice.

harrigran Thu 13-Sept-12 19:07:53

Welcome home Gally have a good rest smile

Oldgreymare Thu 13-Sept-12 19:02:00

Gally welcome back, doesn't time fly. Chilly here too but trying to resist opening the winter wardrobe!
Anno have you tried cranberry juice drinks/cranberry tablets? Hope you're feeling better soon.
Lost my motivation after lunch today, turned the sofa/settee around to face the sun and had a little power nap. Didn't want to move from my sunny spot! blush

Greatnan Thu 13-Sept-12 14:55:20

Anno - I hope it wasn't my food!
