Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...grin

Looking after my 2 and a half year old granddaughter, played with the Duplo Zoo, read the Gruffalo and Gruffalo's child umpteen times, went to the swings, looked for conkers, although they are still quite small. A good day in spite of DG being in very contradictory mood, if I say black's black she says black's white. Maybe that's girls, I had boys don't remember them arguing quite so much, they were usually too busy exploding!

Ella It was a freak hail storm that triggered the floods in our village. There is a row of sweet little cottages that used to have wooden bridges across the burn. Every bridge was swept away. Gardens are ruined, and a large shed has been uprooted from its base. The insurers are assessing the flood damage. We noted that a company that deals with cleaning interiors of flooded houses, was being kept busy in the village.
Today, the sky is iron grey but the sun is still managing to shine. The sea is extremely lively. Masses of work to do in the garden - mostly cutting back all the dead stuff. Tomorrow's forecast sounds promising. I shall do my bit then.

Hope she has a good journey, and has got her umbrella!
It has been hailstoning here in Cheshire, nearly covered the road in white this morning! confused
Several heavy showers and now gorgeous sunshine!

Will look forward to 'seeing' her again on GN. Glad you had a good week.

Greatnan Tue 11-Sept-12 15:17:50

Took Anno to Geneva airport after a very good lunch (not liquid!).

Shower-dodge hedging! Got one side of one hedge done. Will rake up the soggy mess later....

Marelli I would have loved to have been with you. A hearty blether is such a good tonic. smile

Marelli Tue 11-Sept-12 14:44:20

Met up with Grandmanorm and my 'lurking' friend for coffee. We blethered for an hour and a half non-stop, before having to dash off again! It's amazing how much you can find to talk about, with people you've never met before.......but then, I suppose that's what we do on Gransnet all the time! smile

soop Tue 11-Sept-12 14:44:03

Poor harri...that's longer than it takes to "make" a baby! grin

harrigran Tue 11-Sept-12 13:30:04

The kitchen fitter has arrived to finish the cupboard, third time. Messed it up twice before so that we had to have a completely new cupboard in the end. If this is the end it will have taken nine and a half months for a kitchen promised in one week.

Gally Where has the time gone? I'm so glad that you have a whole host of happy memories to return home with. Hope that you have a decent journey. Am looking forward to meeting you in October. smile

glassortwo Tue 11-Sept-12 09:53:49

Good to see you back old. I am avoiding going upstairs to DGD bedroom to sort it out, so I am having another brew and I am then going to get started. hmm

Oldgreymare Tue 11-Sept-12 09:50:22

Safe journey Gally, I'm at the 'holiday washing' stage and can't believe there is so much to do!

Ella46 Tue 11-Sept-12 07:28:24

Gally, I don't envy you, 'goodbyes' are always difficult aren't they? So I hope you have a good journey, and all those gurgles and smiles will be with you, keeping you going sunshine

Gally Tue 11-Sept-12 06:50:34

Today I have been packing my bags ready for departure tomorrow - I hate packing - I never seem to be able to travel light but I seem to have managed to shove most of it in. I am all of a wobble - not wanting to leave but keen to get on my way to avoid the horrible farewells. Just off to the last swimming lesson with the boys and of course the weather is just perfect - blue sky, sun and 24 degrees. sunshine sad

Spent ages catching up on this thread.... such 'goings on', such fun, apart from bee stings, curtain hanging and tired grans. flowers for the latter.
Nice was good, Mamie was quite right, only one thunderstorm and that was over quickly.
Next excitement: Oct 6th ;)

I sent DD off with instructions to find out where the school's lost property office is. She has been there less than a month and has mislaid not one, but two cardigans already. hmm

whenim64 Mon 10-Sept-12 10:32:54

Off to play with my little grandaughters who are now mobile and taking ther baby walkers around the house in opposite directions. My daughter reports she has gone down a dress size in the last fortnight, just by chasing them both round grin

whenim64 Mon 10-Sept-12 10:06:51

Great! Have a fabulous time you two, and don't forget the photos! smile

Bags Mon 10-Sept-12 10:00:39

jeni, grin. Why aren't I surprised?

Ella46 Mon 10-Sept-12 09:50:09

Good on yer both jeni and Maniac, glad you are causing havoc and enjoying yourselves!

glassortwo Mon 10-Sept-12 09:48:23

jeni it lovely to hear you are both having a fantastic time. sunshine

jeni Mon 10-Sept-12 09:38:10

I'm sitting in a bar in Kusadasi. Maniac has gone on the Ephesus tour. The temp here is in the 30s and set to rise!
We couldntget into Mykonos yesterday as it was too windy! So had a restful day at sea instead.
I think maniac is really enjoying herself as am I. Our table is the noisiest in the room without a doubt. Everybody knows us as the table who had crepes suzettes and are really enjoying themselves.
We are also probably the table that gets through the most wine! The sommelier makes a beeline for us when we appear!
Well that's all for now folks. May touch base in Israel!
Love to you all

Marelli Mon 10-Sept-12 09:33:03

Crikey, glass - you are brave - I could never have done that! I'm terrified of heights! Also, I nearly fell over in the rhubarb patch yesterday, and it serves me right, because I just don't watch where I'm putting my big feet.....according to DH....confused!

glassortwo Sun 09-Sept-12 22:52:42

harri I think I made a huge mistake even trying. grin
