Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...grin

Ariadne - away to your bed with the lovely warm thoughts of the fine company you've been in all weekend. Good friends are few and far between. smile

Ariadne Sun 09-Sept-12 21:35:16

It is glass! Nice to sink into your own settee with your PJs on.

But I am NOT enjoying the music on the bit of the closing ceremony I am watching. It is Coldplay and, at the risk of being shot down, I find the music dirge like and repetitive. Maybe I should go to bed.

glass, that'll be a good feeling - drawing a line under the roof (so to speak)!
smile

glassortwo Sun 09-Sept-12 21:31:28

Glad it all went well, glamm smile

Glad it's going well, jeni maniac grin

Glad roof is progressing, glass wine

What/who have I missed?

glassortwo Sun 09-Sept-12 19:58:09

Well the internet is back on again it been off more than its been on this last 2 weeks.
Just got back from finishing the part of the roof we didnt get done last week so I feel quite satisfied.

Crimson I would move them. grin I have got a pair of curtains up ( I should say they are my DDs) and I have shortened one side (the side you can see) and the other is behind the sofa and its yet to be altered! shock

jeni and maniac are living up to expectations then grin grin grin

crimson Sun 09-Sept-12 19:32:14

What worries [worries] me is that they are so heavy compared to the last ones and I hope the curtain pole can take the weight! I can't be bothered to do the second window yet, so the curtains are resting on the sofa next to which I've just been eating a salad with lots of beetroot in it. The S.O. is now watching telly with a glass of red wine in his hand about two feet away from them. My sensible head keeps saying 'crimson, move those curtains...now'.

harrigran Sun 09-Sept-12 18:29:11

I sympathise crimson, I hate hanging curtains. After the building work I couldn't face it so asked John Lewis to make and hang them. The curtains look fabulous and I didn't even have to get the step ladder out.

Marelli Sun 09-Sept-12 17:48:41

glamma - lovely time was had, by all accounts! smile

absentgrana Sun 09-Sept-12 17:39:03

No, it wouldn't would it Elegran? smile

Elegran Sun 09-Sept-12 16:14:32

crimson It sounds as though you will be doing some conversions into matching cushion covers - or did you plan to have the extra curtain hanging between the windows to get a whole wall of curtaining? I did that once and it was very effective. Doesn't work if the windows are at opposite ends of the room, of course.

crimson Sun 09-Sept-12 16:01:57

Months ago before my central heating packed in and everything went a bit aft agley lifewise, I ordered some new curtains for the living room. I've finally got round to picking them up and putting them up but, I've got two windows and five curtains. This is giving me a bit of a Jake the Peg moment, in that I keep looking at them, then looking at the windows, counting my fingers and then going off to have yet another cup of tea all the time with a puzzled look on my face. And questioning my sanity [not for the first time confused]. I also HATE putting curtains up; twice I've pulled the thread through too far and had to untie the knot and the metal curtain hooks seem to drop out just as I'm lifting the curtains up. I can't stand doing 'fiddly things'. So I'm going to go and do some gardening for a bit.

Keep up the good work, jeni and maniac...have yourselves a whole lot of fun. grin
Glamma how lovely the wedding sounds. Super news that a proposal is in the air. As you say, you'll definitely need a new hat. smile

Nonu Sun 09-Sept-12 11:27:22

Glammanana smile

glammanana Sun 09-Sept-12 11:26:11

Good morning just to say everything went very well at wedding Mr Glamma's speech went down well and raised a lot of laugh's food and service where excellent and my friend arrived in a fab vintage Rolls Royce she looked amazing and had chosen a dress that flattered her no end.It was lovely to have my 3 DCs all together and we had the fabulous news from DS2 that he is going to propose to his lovely girlfriend in November when he takes her for a short break in the Welsh Hills. So I had better start picking a "new hat" as Cilla Black would say.wink

harrigran Sun 09-Sept-12 11:09:54

Harri Sounds like a fun day for your Harriet smile
Today is GD1's birthday - she's 3. She had a teddy bears' picnic yesterday for lots of friends and family at her Grandpa and Grandma's farm - I couldn't be there but once I am back in the UK will make up for it somehow. That's the trouble being piggy in the middle - you can't be in more than one place at a time hmm
