gracesmum, at least you can go to a manicurist and get acrylic nails for a bit of glamour. And if you continue in this kind of spin, you will probably drop a dress size within days! Otherwise, you might need one of those undergarments that sound so convincing on makeover shows but are actually instruments of torture. Chin up and or preferably

Trying to get an early night last night because of travelling today and there was a blessed mosquito in my bedroom; every time I started to nod off it started buzzing again. Knowing that I'd probably wake up covered in lumps I had difficulty sleeping. Were inundated at work a couple of weeks ago with people having terrible reactions to mossie bites, swelling arms etc, and Boots sold out of antihistamine cream. jeni We haven't seen it for some time. Where is a hedgehog when you need one? We discovered the kitten's supper [put out at night] covered in ginormous slugs. Kitten always comes at bedtime and I guess that's when slugs come out to play. Would it be cruel to leave a dish of beer for the rascals?

The sun is shining and we've had a pleasant stroll through the village. Met friends at the local art show. Huge amount of talent in this area. Treated myself to a very quirky watch on a beaded bracelet. It was very reasonably priced.It's so pretty. Rory, the feral cat, has been away for 60 hours [I've been counting.] Went to my bed last night, fretting that he had met with an accident. This morning, Mr soop tickled my toes as they peeped from the bed sheet and said...'someone is waiting to say hello...' I leapt out of bed [went a bit dizzy] and there he sat, as cat's do, all very neat and tidy. He heard my voice and licked his lips. Out I went [wearing next to nowt] with a large bowl of Tesco's finest cat food. He appeared to be pleased to see me and delighted to see the breakfast. He's now asleep in his apartment. A robin has been in and out picking up a few morsals from under his nose. Rory pays no attention whatsoever! He makes me .

Family has been and gone and the house is back to its customary quietness, though Radio 4 is always interesting on Saturday morning. Bed linen is in the machine but it's now drizzling (though warm) so it may have to go in the drier. Big son did so many little jobs for me like putting up a curtain rail which I could easily have done for myself until my shoulders started getting old. He really liked my hedge trimmer so used it with alacrity. Children are now old enough to go to the little playground across the road by themselves and inevitably made the acquaintance of local children. DiL found a lovely sundress in a nearby charity shop and hopes to be able to wear it in the next few days! So a very satisfactory couple of days.

The 'magic' ointment here is Lucas' Paw Paw Ointment; it seems to cure everything! I always take a load of tubes back for my 'customers' after each visit. Especially good for sore bottoms - no, not Grannys' bottoms - babies' bottoms

Gally, this morning it's dull and damp, though it's to brighten later apparently. Lot's of itching from the little beasties that jump off my trees and bushes in the garden, though.....must get hold of some Tiger Balm, as advised by Bags. My little chemist didn't have it.
