Today I've been.....

I helped make a cake today too - a hedgehog for the 6 year old. Before that we went to watch his soccer match and he scored the only goal - hurrah. It was bitterly cold and we were so glad to get home in the warm. The said cake was eaten this afternoon and this evening we are all, Harriet the 3 week old included, going out to Dee Why for a pizza (although of course she won't be partaking ) . I am so jealous of all your sun - I know by the time I am home again, it will be almost autumn and I shall then be in for my 3rd winter of this year . How can I manage to get 3 summers next year I wonder?

Morning girls, it looks like it will be a sticky day, but not complaining!
I'm meeting some friends for coffee and mooching around the Artisan market, which happens every month here.
There is usually lots of lovely, varied food, and generally a great atmosphere, so looking forward to my day

Just woken up after a very hot and sticky night down here - duvet off, windows open! It is set to become another very hot day today, Sao am going to make a cake early!

DS2 and family visiting for two nights (not enough!). He has tidied up my disastrous garden though there is still much to do. Two GDs (20 and 9) went to do some girly shopping together. Tonight we have had a lovely meal in the new Indian restaurant down the road.

Yes Arromanches is spectacular, but it gets much busier and more touristy up that end. We rolled up at 10 o'clock, parked in the shade for free and there were about three other families on the beach. It wasn't like that when we lived on the south coast of England!

I remember going to arromanches once when on a French exchange and again when we took the children!

Very close, Marelli, but actually at Lion-sur-Mer. We drove through Hermanville on the way home.

Mamie - are you at St Aubin (?) We were there a couple of years ago and walked along the beach there. DH's dad's boss was fatally injured in the D-Day landings on Sword beach, and we went along to the cemetery at Hermanville to visit his grave. As you say, we will always remember what happened there.

At the beach, having my first sea bathe of the season - and very cold the sea was too. Lovely quiet beach (apart from the Keep Fit class on the prom) and 30 degrees with bright sunshine. It always takes me by surprise, though, when I turn to swim back to shore to see the lovely Normandy houses that you can see so clearly in the 1944 contemporary film of the D-day landings. We were on what was "Gold" beach in the British landing sector; you can still see bullet and shell marks in some of the buildings.
Very peaceful today, but we always remember what happened there.

I've stayed overnight at my DS house as they were attending a wedding yesterday and needed GC bringing home whilst they stayed and lived it up! All quiet at the moment, but that could change at any time!

I am just about to set off to get a train to Glasgow. I am staying with my sister until Tuesday, and can't wait. We very rarely have any time to ourselves and she usually comes to London. DH is a bit miffed that it's a weekend, but I expect he'll survive, I hardly ever go away without him. I have my kindle with me and am looking forward to the journey, I love train journeys.

Good morning, I am sat in the ohhh so quiet this morning little ones still in bed, so I am making the most of a cup of tea and finishing the whole cup, waiting for the grocery delivery to land, not that we have any here today there is a gale blowing, never mind if the rain stays off the washing will dry.
