Apart from choosing a new name, I've been slathering Germolene on insect bites - how lovely is that? My new name doesn't make one think of Germolene and insect bites! It's the time of year for these and I'm covered in large itchy bumps...grin

when So pleased the wedding was wonderful - and your description of the 'morning after' sailing party made me grin!

Good luck on your travels today, everyone, and much happiness in your new home Ariadne

Butty there is something really special about having your own place of sanctuary to go to. When I look back to living at home with my large family, we would all head off to the bathroom and lock the door to ensure solitude. Sometimes, a quiet pace of one's own is hard to manage. Enjoy! smile

Warning it IS terrible where you're heading, but promises to clear up later on. Enjoy Ironbridge - it was looking lovely on Saturday! smile

Marelli Mon 24-Sept-12 07:14:28

Butternut - what bliss, to have your own space. That's very precious. You can sit in there with the door closed, and just ..... be. smile
Ariadne, wishing you love, luck and happiness in your new home. smile
I'm away on my wee holiday this morning, so shouldn't really be sitting here blethering! We're heading down to Shropshire - want to see Ironbridge etc! Be back on Friday - and think, in between now and then, the weather may just be a tad terrible....oh well! hmm

eGJ Mon 24-Sept-12 07:06:55

Good luck with the journey; drive carefully in all this rain smile

Off we go today, from Cheltenham to take over our new house in Devon! The two older DGC (14 & 16) who live there can walk to it from school, so will be round to help unpack what we have travelled with and what is in storage down there. I really am ready to be in my own home, even if it is new.

Anyway, two little girls will be up soon, so must go for some hugs! Then Westward Ho! To coin a phrase.

I am home from Helensburgh where I had the most wonderful weekend. I was surprised to wake up to a frost though on Saturday morning. Spent Saturday afternoon at Loch Lomond, was tempted by the sea plane trip but will save that for another time.

Marelli Sun 23-Sept-12 21:16:22

That's good, when! I can imagine the sail on Windermere.......grin xx

annodomini Sun 23-Sept-12 21:15:45

You've had such a perfect weekend, when. What a wonderful place for a family wedding - imagine waking up to that view every morning . Can only dream. smile

whenim64 Sun 23-Sept-12 20:57:43

Got back this afternoon from a lovely weekend in The Lakes, watching my brother get married. Such a happy time after a year of worry and loss. It culminated in a raucous sail along Windermere this morning - rather a lot of hung over guests feeling slightly queezy, but such fun. There's a photo of the view from my window on my profile. Beautiful, sunny weather and rather a lot of champagne was shared. Could do it all again next week! smile

Too much mention of wine so I've just raided the garage cellar and poured one.
Hands and knees job scrubbing the kitchen floor after there were lots of splashes of juice (straining stewed blackberries and crab apples to make jelly).Nine jars now sit gleaming and all for the cost of the sugar (and gas!).
Lovely long chats to younger sister, on the phone.
Butter I have my own bedroom/boudoir and it is bliss, enjoy your special room.
Moomin, persevere! The first glass after antibiotics always tastes odd! wink

JosieGransnet (GNHQ) Sun 23-Sept-12 18:30:03

Greatnan, have emailed you smile

moomin crumble sound fab, how disappointing the wine being terrible.

crimson Sun 23-Sept-12 17:49:29

Let us know as soon as he comes back, numberplease. I started to have pedigree housecats because I used to worry so much about mine but in retrospect I wish I'd stuck with cats that had complete freedom..it's what they need.

moomin Sun 23-Sept-12 17:47:12

Been collecting Bramley apples in and leaving the windfalls for the birds - crumble for dinner tonight!

After 2 weeks of antibiotics, I can at long last have a glass of vino, unfortunately it is part of an M&S meal for £10 and is quite disgusting! What a let down sad

glassortwo Sun 23-Sept-12 17:43:23

butter you little piece of heaven sunshine
number he may have found a lady friend, and be home soon.

numberplease Sun 23-Sept-12 17:40:08

Yes Anno, he is microchipped. I go to the door every ten minutes, just in case he`s sitting outside, it`s awful.

Ana Sun 23-Sept-12 16:14:05

Sounds lovely, Butter - a room of one's own! smile

Butternut Sun 23-Sept-12 16:03:21

Because of various changes, I now have a place I can call my own. I have, for the past week or so, been reconstructing our old study into a place which is now mine. Everything in it has been culled from the rest of the house and garden, apart from a couple of indoor plants. Frankly it is bliss. I've never had a room of my own before, and I love it. sunshine

Butternut Sun 23-Sept-12 15:39:06

grin

Bags Sun 23-Sept-12 15:21:04

It said, "Hey! be careful where you're chuckin' those dried mealworms! They're quite sharp on one's nose, y'know!"

annodomini Sun 23-Sept-12 14:55:15

What did the hedgehog have to say for itself, Bags?

Bags Sun 23-Sept-12 14:53:59

Mowing up and down hill, shooting arrows at a target, and talking to a hedgehog.

Greatnan Sun 23-Sept-12 14:07:18

Warm and sunny again today, so I managed to take Granjura's lovely old dog a short walk - when she has had enough, she just turns round and heads for home! I have also picked a big bowl of raspberries to have with cream - she told me to, honest! (Granjura, not Gatsby).

jeni Sun 23-Sept-12 13:25:28

Well DD and DGD have just left.
Perhaps I can now get the house back to normal and get mi icad! Out and play with it myself, instead of having ladybird apps on with a 15 month old on my knee!
