Hello everyone.
I couldn`t find an "indroduce yourself" thread so hope it is ok to post here.

My name is Vonnie and I am 61 years young. I live in the beautiful county of Cornwall with my hubby of 42 years and my little Yorkie called Bonnie.

I have three grandchildren and two step grandchildren who I love to bits.

My hobbies are knitting (I am a moderator on a knitting forum), crochet, reading, gardening, baking and cake decorating, and going away in our caravan.

I look forward to getting to know you all.

Vonnie smile

Good morning, Vonnie! I'm one of the early birds, at least sometimes.

Vonnie welcome! Sadly I am not a knitter - I do try but unsuccessfully - still on the jumper I was knitting for GS1 when he was born; he is now 8 so that just about sums it up. As you see, we are a friendly lot and no doubt we will meet on other threads grin

Hello Vonnie, welcome to Gransnet, I don't get on here as much as I would like because I work fulltime etc but all the gransnetters have been very informative and helpful when I have had problems to share.

I am just embarking on knitting a shawl....a very basic pattern, so might be calling on your expertise when I get stuck lol. I used to knit for my boys when they were little, (again very basic stuff) I had my Mum then to put me right, but hardly do any now Like Annika said, they seem to dress differently know, and when I suggested I knit a little jacket for my recently born GS my DIL said she didn't like knitted things!

Hello Vonnie - welcome to Gransnet. I am another one who has been around since the beginning - I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself. I, too, knit - it's particularly good now I have grandchildren - just about to start an angel top which I last knitted for my daughter (now 33) when she was a baby.

harrigran Thu 30-Aug-12 12:22:11

Welcome Vonnie I have been around since the beginning and I am a nightowl, often on here at 1am.
I used to knit anything and eveything but handknits were not wanted for GC so stopped a few years ago. I think the last thing I made was a blanket which went to uni with DS, knitted in squares from yarn used on his jumpers as a tot.

Wellcome Vonnie.
Ive done knitting, crochet, tatting etc most of my life.-taught my only GD to knit.I've run out of projects just now but have discovered 'Freeform Knitting and Crochet' online. So lots more fun ahead.

Hi Vonnie ~ hope you enjoy GN.
I only knit squares, during the winter months. I don't think there's much hope for me as a knitter. smile

Annika Thu 30-Aug-12 11:10:04

Hello and welcome Vonnie there are lots of topics to comment on I am sure you will find many that will intrest you.
I used to knit for my children when they were little but I have to admit I have not knitted one single thing for my three grandchildren, why I do not know perhaps its because they are dressed differently now to how I used to dress them all those years ago. What do I mean all those years ago Im only 57 grin

Grannybug Thu 30-Aug-12 10:19:12

Welcome Vonnie I am newish myself and have really enjoyed being part of GN. Some interesting ,challenging and downright hilarious posts mean that no matter how life is treating you there is something for everyone. I can knit but my kids used to dread me knitting anything for them and plead for shop bought knitwear ! smile
