Where I ate one wasn't a chip shop. Perhaps everyone is looking in the wrong places.

I live in Scotland and have asked all my workmates and none of us have ever tried a deep fried Mars bar. In fact, I've never found a chip shop that sells them!

Did you know Mars also make Pedigree pet foods - not in the same kitchen lets hope.

Mars have done a great deal over the years to make a Mars Bar less fattening. They've regularly reduced the size and increased the price or...maybe that was a cunning ploy to make more money out of the consumer

"Healthy" Mars bars, low alcohol wine and beer: - low fat McDonalds and healthy" Coca Cola next? is there no fun left to be had?

Cari are they made in chip shops around the country? I don't know how to find one outside Glasgow

I still haven't tried one, but vowed I would last year. Must look out for them

'Twas I! In Glasgow. 'Twas delicious, served with chocolate ice-cream and a drizzle of choclate sauce. I'd eat one again (actually it was half; a friend and I shared one; we felt we had to test it once at least) sometime. Put it on the same category shelf as any other rich pudding or cake.

WHAT is all the fuss about? Actually, I know the answer to that question: food fat phobia, induced by bad publicity about dietary animals fats, which publicity is paid for by, guess who?, the producers of vegetable fats.

Try it before you judge. It won't appeal to everyone but it's just another rich pudding.

I've never had one, but I have seen it advertised occasionally at the odd fish and chip shop. According to the "Telegraph" today Mars has been playing about with the recipe for Mars bars and have lowered the sugar content; hence they don't want to be associated with unhealthy deep fried Mars bars.

A friend's husband used to work for Mars and had to take samples of all their chocolate bars with him when he visited clients; they had a shelf life of six weeks, so she used to throw boxes and boxes of bars of chocolate away. The refuse men caught on to this and would always go through her bin with a fine toothed comb!

There's a thread somewhere about deep fried Mars bars - a GN had had one in a cafe and loved it. Can't remember who it was...?

Apparently the deep fried Mars bar is 20 years old this year and the place that started it wants to go to the European court of (can't remember what) and have it registered. Mars are not happy about this and want a disclaimer in the chip shop to convey that. There is an article in The Times about this, this morning.
