hunt, That sounds fascinating as well as great fun! Used you to be 'extras' in films and things which required dancing? Such as the films of
Jane Austen books that crimson mentioned? I'm grinning right now thinking what a fabulous and interesting time you must have had. Thank you for telling us about that smile

Gosh, that sounds interesting, Hunt. I've noticed that in series and films like Elizabeth and Jane Austen'y stuff dancing was far more than just 'dancing'. If ever you do a talk in the East Midlands let me know; I'd love to find out more.

My husband and I have been interested in Historic dance for many years and belonged to a performance dance company. We performed at stately homes all over the country from Hampton Court to the smallest medieval feast house. What fun we had. At the age of 80 we decided that the time had come to stop and now we have wardrobes full of authentic historic clothes as well as numerous artifacts to go with them. We have decided to re-invent ourselves and now do talks and exhibitions based on the clothes etc. Goodness knows what will happen to it all when we ''pop off''!

No.

Sadly I can't even get a dart in the board, always hit the ruddy rubber tyre around it. Nice hobby I wish I had the eye and skill to be able to do it. What upper body strength it takes too. ' I must, I must improve my bust'.

smile'.

absentgrana I took my DGD to ballet class yesterday and she was -- I quote
'the goodest at not wobbling" smile
Thanks to people like you who take these classes.

I used to be an assistant ballet teacher. I wasn't qualified to teach the senior pupils but I did an okay job with the littles.

I did archery at school, loved it and was reasonably good, but that was a looooong time ago!

There are a couple of archery clubs locally, but I must confess I'm not much of a "joiner".

Bows vary a lot. Mine (22lb) is a much lighter pull than DH's (35lb). It's called draw weight.

In our last parish the vicar had the right to call all the villagers to the butts for archery practice...............and she did!! smile
I tried archery on a "Pamper Day" at the local Warner's hotel; will go again and give it another try, good fun, but those bows are s t r o n g !

I listen to the Archers..should have added it to my list!! I crochet too!

Movedalot Tue 11-Sept-12 12:54:48

I sometimes listen to The Archers, does that count? grin

We do have a flourishing archery club here.

My DD1 and her SO are archers (long bow) but sadly small children and archery practice is not a good combination so their bows are currently decorating the walls of their cottage. They hope to get back into it later. I have accompanied them to various competitions and love the atmosphere and the archers. Everyone seems to be a 'character' - lovely, lovely interesting people.

absentgrana Tue 11-Sept-12 11:16:07

I used to fence but haven't done so for quite a while. I'm boringly ordinary in my old age. grin

Am I the only archer on gransnet?

Who else seems to have a minority interest/hobby?
