As time is galloping on could you please add your name to the thread if you are coming to gally's on the 3rd of October. Then we can talk about the catering once we have established who is coming. smile

GillieB Mon 01-Oct-12 17:22:16

Under the sofa, Gally - I am very impressed. And thanks for doing the labels - it will make things easier for us (well, perhaps not for me if I am out in the garden with the butler). smile

My DH is out mowing the lawns; not sure if this is for Glass or Moomin when they pick me up on Wednesday morning, or whether it is the last mow before the winter.

Gally: are you sure there is nothing else we can do?

moomin Mon 01-Oct-12 17:36:58

Sounds like Wednesday is going to be fun grin! If there is a handsome butler going, then I may just catch a cold!

Gillie - very impressed with "lawns", just how large is your garden?? Glass good to know you have face masks at the ready, I could bring rubber gloves too (or may not, it could imply I'm willing to do the washing up!)

You're a star Gally and deserve a medal for working so hard and cooking for us flowers

Elegran Mon 01-Oct-12 17:52:28

GillieB If you wear your labels the butler at least will remember your name.

I have made some bread to bring (will be frozen until Wednesday so that it is not dried out) The white was no problem but I must have skipped a line or something with the onion and herb, because it did not have nearly enough water in it. The poor bread machine was groaning. I couldn't just slosh in some more water so had to take it out and throw it in the bin (where it rose beautifully - maybe I should have left it alone) and start again. It is now in the oven baking.

Machine currently working on oat and bran, experimental so no guarantees, bring your own pickaxes. I had no bran so have used all-bran. That is near enough, isn't it?

soop Mon 01-Oct-12 18:19:05

All so excitipating. grin Gally A five star rating. I shall not be tempted to look under sofa. Unless of course Bags goes missing...wink

What are you going to need - besides loaves and fishes and the odd miracle? I would rather know that my contributions will be useful. It's going to be a brilliant few hours. flowers

Grannylin Mon 01-Oct-12 18:26:46

I'm so glad ga has reappeared.I was getting quite worried about coming on my own and needing an interpreter grin

annodomini Mon 01-Oct-12 19:14:48

Don't worry. Grannylin, I can vouch for the fact that Bags, although an adopted Scot, speaks with received pronunciation. grin

glassortwo Mon 01-Oct-12 19:21:14

gally dont go cleaning for us. Let me know if there is anything else you need it wont take any carrying in the car.

I am looking forward to Wednesday its a bit like waiting for Christmas coming grin

I will make sure I check MrB newly cut lawns when I pick you up GillieB

Still no word from GillyBob so I am assuming she cant make it sad

Elegran Mon 01-Oct-12 19:21:18

Several of those who will be there are naturalised Scots, so you won't need an interpreter.

Scots are quite accustomed to modulating their accents for the higgerant furriners anyway (the glaikit southrons)

glassortwo Mon 01-Oct-12 19:23:45

elegran grin

My camera is broken so I am hoping someone has their camera with them, I will have my phone but you need binoculars to see the photos.

Grannylin Mon 01-Oct-12 19:55:04

Just realised I 'm the only one not 'blued' so have rushed a quick profile so someone might recognise me and be kind to a furriner (not furrier as iPad suggested)!

grannyactivist Mon 01-Oct-12 20:27:43

Gally, please save the toilet cleaning for me to do tomorrow. We had FIVE toilets in this house when we bought it so I really have had plenty of experience and would love to have something useful to do.grin

moomin Mon 01-Oct-12 20:37:33

Have camera, will bring glass

harrigran Mon 01-Oct-12 20:44:06

Hi everyone, I won't be online tomorrow as I am travelling up to Scotland. Will have my camera, looking forward to seeing you all. Did we establish a time ?

Marelli Mon 01-Oct-12 20:47:40

I'll bring Lurkio - not her real name. Well, she's bringing me, actually! She's posted rarely, but reads posts avidly.....wink....and is my good friend of 30 years. smile

glassortwo Mon 01-Oct-12 21:01:28

marelli I look forward to meeting lurkio grin

Gally Mon 01-Oct-12 21:47:56

Oh it's nothing Moomin !! (strangulated emoticon)
GillieB - under the sofas just in case anyone collapses with excitement and, while lying on the floor, see the state of underneath! I'm trying to rustle up a suitable butler - but no luck so far. Maybe Brian, our local 'tramp' would like a wee job for the day?
GA no loo cleaning necessary now - even had a go at the showers.
I am so excited, I don't think I will sleep for the next fortnight grin

soop Tue 02-Oct-12 14:50:38

Back from work. Buzzing with excitement. Daft as a brush - Me, that is! Gally you haven't replied to my last message. Are you short of savoury or sweet fodder?
Mr soop is bringing his good camera. Before he buzzes off to look at the local scenery, he's promised to take a group photo. Cheesy grin

annodomini Tue 02-Oct-12 14:59:48

Gally, do you anticipate having to give one of your guests a shower? grin

soop Tue 02-Oct-12 17:14:58

Gally I shall check one last time before unplugging the computer. If you have no preferences, I shall bring along a wee selection of sweet and savoury goodies.
Have put my hair in rollers. May need to sleep in a few. What some gels do in order to look passable. hmm

absentgrana Tue 02-Oct-12 17:20:23

soop You look lovely – and so elegant.

soop Tue 02-Oct-12 18:13:55

absent smile I hope that you're keeping well. It's at this point that I shall log off [jobs to do] and wish you all a very peaceful goodnight. Safe journeys to those on the move tomorrow. moon
