As time is galloping on could you please add your name to the thread if you are coming to gally's on the 3rd of October. Then we can talk about the catering once we have established who is coming. smile

Bags Wed 03-Oct-12 20:44:47

Home! Happy! smile Wasn't it lovely?

Marelli Wed 03-Oct-12 20:48:15

Home already, Bags? It certainly was lovely! smile

Bags Wed 03-Oct-12 21:00:45

Left Gally's at five fifteen; home at eight thirty. Phew! I'm so glad I decided to go by train instead of driving. Hopped off one train in Edinburgh and onto another, then off that in Glasgow and onto another, then a half-hour drive home, so never more than a minute or two's pause.

Gally, THANK YOU again for your very kind and generous hospitality flowers. Have fun with ga and grannylin tonight, and I hope they have a good journey home tomorrow.

glassortwo Wed 03-Oct-12 21:07:15

Home again and showered. gally thank you so much for having us rabble descend you. Food was delicious.

absent we missed you and all the other GN who couldnt be with us.
Cant wait for the next meeting.

moomin Wed 03-Oct-12 21:18:16

Yes a fabulous day! Many, many thanks to gally for her hospitality in her truly lovely house. Thanks as well to glass for chauffering there and back (what a star!) and we only took a couple of wrong turnings (sat navs aren't all they are cracked up to be!)

Lovely to meet you all and, yes - let's do it all over again soon grin. Maybe next time absent you can put down your paint brush and join us smile

Granny23 Wed 03-Oct-12 22:44:22

A huge thank you to Gally for being the perfect hostess - I felt 'at home' from the moment I arrived. Lovely to see again the GNs who met in Glasgow and then meet all these new ones - all just as lively and lovely. It is not my tongue that is exhausted, Elegran, but rather my smiling muscles, I am sitting here with a big grin grin still on my face. Only one word to sum up the day - SMASHIN ('s math sin).

Granny23 Wed 03-Oct-12 22:50:55

This is a message for The Lurker. We cannot wait for the next meet up to 'talk' to you again so get posting pronto. That is an order! wink

Gally Thu 04-Oct-12 07:44:38

Good Morning 'Edinburgh' ladies. I hope you are all rested after such a wonderful day. Thank you for coming and for all the goodies you brought too. I shall be dining out for days winegrin. It was lovely to meet everyone at last and as Moomin and Glass say, let's do it again very soon. Just off to wake up GA and Grannylin as we have to leave for the airport in an hour and they are still snoring wink

absentgrana Thu 04-Oct-12 08:13:04

It sounds as if you all had a fabulous time with lots of lovely things to eat and drink. envy I'm glad you all enjoyed yourselves and hope to join you next time.

absentgrana Thu 04-Oct-12 08:13:51

P.s. Where are the photographs? grin

Marelli Thu 04-Oct-12 08:56:19

Mr soop popped in when soop arrived, absent. He took some really good photos of us all in Gally's garden - well, more 'sensible' ones, anyway! The ones we took in Gally's house are a bit 'disorganised', if you know what I mean...grin soop will no doubt be putting them on as soon as she gets back today, I think.

Oldgreymare Thu 04-Oct-12 08:58:22

Gally and ALL... seems like we have a lot to live up to in Brum...grin

GillieB Thu 04-Oct-12 09:31:20

Why, when I want to use the laptop urgently, do I discover that MrB has played with it and it doesn't do what I want anymore and then I have to wait for him to sort it out!

Thanks to Gally for a wonderful time - you made us so welcome and I know that we all enjoyed ourselves and can't wait for the next meeting.

It took me, glass and moomin just under three hours to get home even with the Edinburgh traffic - pretty good going, I thought. Thanks to glass for driving yesterday. I think moomin saw parts of Northumberland she had never seen before and I certainly saw parts of Scotland I had never visited before.

It was so, so lovely to see everyone in the flesh - as I said at the time, the thing that surprised me most was how young everyone looked!

Can't wait to see everyone again!

grannyactivist Thu 04-Oct-12 13:11:22

Home again! The Wonderful Man surprised me by taking the day off work to collect me from the airport so I'm home a bit quicker than expected.
It was WONDERFUL (and incredibly surreal) to meet so many lovely Gransnet friends. Particular thanks to Gally flowersflowersflowersflowersflowersflowers for her hosting skills; I actually slept better than I have in a long time and Grannylin and I were very well looked after.

Gally Thu 04-Oct-12 13:22:12

Aw Shucks GA it wos nuffing! It was lovely to have you and GL to stay.
I have been trying to upload/download a photo of the 'Edinburgh Gels' for the past 10 minutes but GN won't let me - naughty GN confused

Elegran Thu 04-Oct-12 14:19:48

Thank you Gally, for a lovely day.

PS - Yesterday when we were talking about Frankie Howard's libido I could not remember the presenter I was reminded of. Remembered it last night, it was Julian Pettifer.

Grannylin Thu 04-Oct-12 15:26:06

Home at last!Who is the twit who left her sidelights on in the airport carpark and had to call out the AA because her battery was totally flat!( very nice AA man though and picked a huge bag of blackberries while I was waiting)
Now the important stuff:
everyone was wonderful ...and I ate so much food. Thanks harrigran for your pink bubbly that helped loosen the tongues!
Gally runs the best B&B I've ever stayed in and deserves the biggest hug ever flowers Thanks to GA for being my travel companian and for helping Gally and I sleep so well after her incredible stories gringrin

Gally Thu 04-Oct-12 15:35:12

Grannylin gringrin It was a pleasure to have such lovely guests.
Glad you got home eventually!! Where on earth had you parked your car? We don't have blackberries at our Airport car park confused

Grannylin Thu 04-Oct-12 15:52:33

We have hedges everywhere in Devon, even in the airport carpark! They are probably toxic blackberries smile

soop Thu 04-Oct-12 16:54:19

Back home from a delightful trip to dear Gally's home and the wonderful rowdy gathering with some marvellous GN member/friends. I almost lost my voice, what with shrieking with laughter and all that jazz.
Many thanks to Gally for being such a wonder woman...and a huge thanks to all my mates with whom I shared a memorable occasion. flowers grin sunshine
The best group photo is about to be uploaded. Hope that you like it.

soop Thu 04-Oct-12 17:08:06

I have had no success so far with uploading the group photo. I'm going to forward the image to Bags and see whether or not she can do better. In the meantime, I shall keep trying.

Bags Thu 04-Oct-12 17:40:03

I'm not having any luck with it either. Keep getting and Oops! message.

Bags Thu 04-Oct-12 17:42:56

An oops!

Bags Thu 04-Oct-12 17:45:15

Will try later when someone has woken Tech up.

soop Thu 04-Oct-12 17:46:32

I've been trying for almost an hour...without success. I'm spitting tacks. Very annoyed and terribly frustrated. It's a lovely image. I shall return in the morning. Need to catch up with you all. Will try again before I log off. moon
